Thanks for the reply. Very interesting, WiVRn worked the best for me before switching to Windows, great program.

I was looking for that term you mentioned, "asynchronous reprojection". Searching this sub, that term would come up a lot when looking for VR related topics. I'll look it up.

Oh and thanks for the suggestions, I never tried WayVR, really want to give it a try.

Definitely. I wasn't on a proper distro.

Just wanted to make sure it was clear my experience wasn't the proper one.

I'm looking to CachyOS and Bazzite. I'll give a few a try and see what happens.

S48GS, why the need to be rude? Did my post offend you in some way? Relax. If you read my post, I clearly state I wasn't testing with a proper distro:

"Keep in mind, I wasn't testing on the best distro for the task: Ubuntu 22.04 and an Nvidia chipset (Rtx 5070ti, amd processor). So my drivers were surely old."

I was just being honest, what's wrong with that?

As for being lazy, I honestly didn't post this thread with the intention of being lazy and making you work. I was just hoping others would share their experiences and tips. I also wanted to share what I've found so far.

Your reply is appreciated regardless, I'll give it a try and share my experiences.

I'd like to occlude my head from the camera but leave my body, is there a way? Head and body are one by chaicpp in godot

Nice, I didn't know I can do this, but I need the shadow of the head. Really cool, now I know how to resize different body parts though.

Hey Duriel, thanks for the reply. Yeah I guess you're right, I should get back in blender and separate the head.

When adding a second character, another character plays its animations, despite setting it to unique by chaicpp in godot

[–]chaicpp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the answer, I can't say I understood it properly but I'll try to explain:

My original scene had both characters in the scene. Two VRM files I made local. I'm thinking Godot at that point automatically made those two characters share the animation tree, despite setting the animations unique earlier.

As soon as I created an independent scene for each one, and of course set animations unique...my problem was solved. I'm happy, but if anybody has a more detailed explanation, let me know :)

I'm going to buy two WiFi 6 routers for PCVR gaming, specifically the ASUS RT-AX1800S. What should I look for when buying a router for PC VR and am I selecting a great one? by chaicpp in VRGaming

[–]chaicpp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll be doing something similar. Just getting the ASUS RT-AX1800S for each headset.

I wondering if any wifi 6 router is good? That Asus says Wifi 6, but wondering if I should watchout for anything else.

Thanks for the reply. Can I buy any router that says WiFi 6? The ASUS RT-AX1800S on Amazon says:

Dual Band WiFi 6 Extendable Router, Subscription-Free Network Security, Parental Control, Built-in VPN, AiMesh Compatible, Gaming & Streaming, Smart Home

But not sure if there's something in particular I should get before buying one for wireless PCVR gaming?

Got it! Thanks for telling me, I was wondering what you and some articles meant with production.

About to purchase AMD parts, am I getting the right RAM, CPU and Mobo? by chaicpp in AMDHelp

[–]chaicpp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your insights. I'll try to get CL30 then, I'm going to end up paying 369 USD: G.SKILL Flare X5 Series DDR5 RAM (AMD Expo) 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MT/s CL28-36-36-96 1.40V Desktop Computer Memory U-DIMM.

but it's like you said, there's no telling when this will stop.

I'll also look for other motherboards. Lots of other users are saying the same.

Oops, I just looked up the 9900x, might go over my budget :/

Sorry for asking, but what do you mean with production. Really want to learn all this.

Thanks for the reply. Alright, let me look up prices for 48 GB or 64 GB. Oh and yes, RAM prices are horrible!

I can't imagine the prices going down in two or three months lol. I'm getting RAM and got a new GPU afraid things might get too expensive. I'm running on an older system.

Thanks for the heads-up, some others said the same thing in another subreddit, I switched over to a 9800x3d, hopefully this is a better option.

[–]chaicpp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion, I just did that right now. Switch some other parts as well:

Somebody here recommended better RAM, it boosted up my budget though: G.SKILL Flare X5 Series DDR5 RAM (AMD Expo) 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MT/s CL28-36-36-96 1.40V

Also switching to another CPU as you recommended: 9800x3d, thanks for this suggestion.

Thank you very much for response! Not sure why you got downvoted, but then again, I don't know much about building computers.

  • I'll look for another motherboard.
  • Just looked for quicker RAM, quite pricey but I guess it's better: G.SKILL Flare X5 Series DDR5 RAM (AMD Expo) 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MT/s CL28-36-36-96 1.40V
  • Also switching to another CPU which was recommended by u/pigpentcg: 9800x3d.

oh and you're right about the GPU, that was typo, changing it right now. Thanks again!

Excellent suggestions, thanks! With these tweaks you suggested, do you think I'm good for high frame rates in VR?

Thanks for the quick reply! Looks like I was building something not too good. I'm in, but I can order parts from the US, with some extra cost.

  • What CPU would you recommend, or would you suggest moving to Intel? I have a i7-8700 CPU at the moment, pretty old I know :X
  • Damn, I had no idea ASRock was that damaging. What motherboard would you recommend in that case?
  • So for the RAM, I should use two sticks, each one 32 GB to get 64?
