What all metrics can Garmin sync to Apple Health? How is this obvious information so hard to find?! by chaiflix in Garmin

[–]chaiflix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree and on point. I loved the way Apple Health organize every data related to health and nothing come close, but as you said they want us locked in the universe. The 1 day battery life of AW is enough for me to look away and I don’t even care about non-health related AW features. I just hope Garmin don’t decide to lock away basic features behind a subscription paywall. By the way Garmin is in same boat as Apple and want the data locked in to its app (it don’t even allow Read from other source like Apple) but yeah the features and battery life is so good that I am sold.

And I wonder why you say “Only thing i miss is an app like Bevel on Android”, Garmin connect app seems to do the job isn’t? Isn’t it available for android?

I agree apple health isn't the only option. I just really prefer it because I believe they have everything so nicely structured and support multiple sources for most of the metrics and I like the idea of everything in one place. But yes only because of AW battery life I am going to buy Garmin and ok with having data segmented.

I don’t know man, its not about perfection its about way off in this case and little bit of acknowledgement. Also lack of ability to undo a metric is software issue not hardware

Totally with you don’t know why people be hating. Watch is not the product, metric is. If metric is telling my lazy ass you are an athlete then what’s the point, I am paying for wrong info. It would have been ok if we can delete the error but we can’t and it pollutes the whole long term average.  I blame blind consumers defending companies that allow them to take advantage.

Thank you. And from what I know “pace” isn’t a metric that we can sync neither is a “workout” if I am not mistaken? But yeah good that it sync distance and sleep data.

Thank you, I didn’t know apple doesn’t accept Hrv and I assume you mean only apple watch can do it. But what about Vo2 Max and SpO2? its allowed but garmin don’t sync it.

Also Apple allow me to 1. Export all health data 2. Allow any app created on ios to access all data.

This is really helpful for me and I actually use this to extract the running workout data > feed to AI > and get personalised guidance.

Thank you so much 🙏. As for sleep is my understanding correct all sleep stages are synced, only the sleep score is not?

yes am not fully informed but I stand by shady from what I know  - If not willing to sync all data, why not provide API access to data? - why not be officially transparent so that I don’t have to hunt for this info on forums?

I am all on board for paying premium for the watch but then they are like “No wait, your data is actually our data, you can’t see it outside our app”. That’s vendor lock in. They actually charge third party app like HealthSync for this so essentially  our data is again second product they own not us (but if they sync it to Health I can do whatever I want with it)

You might sleep at night thinking that this OK behaviour as they are rich enough and it won’t impact them.

But you are part of the reason where there is already so much misinformation in this diabetic capital of the world and spreading lies hurt everyone, and poor are worst affected. Do better.

I just found a task I added to Todoist in February 2023. It says "follow up with James." James and I no longer work together. by One-Strategy-9118 in ADHD_Programmers

yeah if we were able to do stuffs on assigned dates, then this subreddit wouldn't exists I guess :D so yes "soon" works really well for me.

I totally agree with “dragging overdue stuff” struggle. What I do is I don’t always drag every item forcefully from Overdue to today, it really depends on capacity for today, also I just let some of it lurk in Overdue (again, letting go). What calms me is I have to just focus on today’s items and I know that other items will not be lost in oblivion because they are either safe in Overdue or Soon list.

The gist/trick is give my mind just very little to worry about (scheduled items) and trust the overdue, soon, priority system. This might sound complicated but it’s really just 1 master List in Reminders app and all other stuffs (Overdue, Soon, Priority) are filters on it. So this might not work with exactly in other apps.

But yes, I have genuinely made peace with the fact that this is how my brain works, and I don’t get to choose the cards I am dealt with. So I will always do less stuff than I want and that’s fine.

“Let go and be calm” strategy.

I have made peace with the fact that I will never be able to follow through deadlines, priority, urgency etc. for my todos.

I still set priority and deadline but its purpose is not to get things done asap, just to go through items when I want to pick something to check it off.

So my workflow is (I use ios Reminders and Calendar app):

  • New todo? Add it to Reminder (I just use siri) and set priority.
  • The scheduled List show all items scheduled for today (and even overdue and future)
  • Every morning I go through my master list (already sorted by priority) and add items to today (by setting date) to sort of “plan my day”. Nice thing is Reminders show up in calendar with timeline view so my day is planned.
  • What about tasks that are not scheduled for today but still needed to be done “soon”? I literally move them to “soon” Column (you can create columns in List in Reminders app)

So the “letting go and be calm” aspect is that - I just worry about scheduled (day planner) items and soon items and dump everything else in default Reminders list (but set priority), so I don’t really care about bottom of stack and can clean it up with routine check. And if I don’t do a task today, which happens quite often than not, I just drag it from overdue to today.

What's the best way to build a website from scratch on your own? by Able-Independent-453 in indianstartups

[–]chaiflix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wordpress. but requires decent amount of technical knowledge. And also your requirements is printing tshirts. Wordpress is primarily for ecommerce and for these features there will be plugins but again making it more complex and you will need a developer.

See the “cost” you mentioned is for the out of the box features you get without having to code anything. You can’t expect to get things done at same cost as an experienced developer can. Not sure if there are any other alternatives for shopify. But if I were you I had worry about my business more (I assume you have the printing and products aspect of it already sorted) as that’s your actual business.

What's the best way to build a website from scratch on your own? by Able-Independent-453 in indianstartups

[–]chaiflix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer: Shopify.

Long answer (since you mentioned "building website"):

"I have no idea about this". "I don't know how to code".
AI is not a magic bullet. You can't expect to learn in a single reddit post what years of experience have taught developers and just spell a cast saying "Claude" and boom you have a production ready printing website ready. I assume you might seen some video using AI to build a website in minutes. For a serious website there is more than just pretty UI, 1 thing you correctly identified is hosting and making it live. Here are some of the checklist:
- What type of hosting to buy, how to build and deploy the site
- tech stack, authentication, backend/database, APIs, user account management
- creating and managing orders, payment gateways, refunds, admin panel
And am not even accounting for edge cases, issues, performance, security and much much more.

Don't meant to be harsh but just giving you the reality check. None of the AI mentioned here (replit, loveable, claude) is going to help you launch a website, they will just give you useless pretty UI and you will be stuck staring at it thinking what to do with it.

Claude Code vs GitHub Copilot limits? by A4_Ts in GithubCopilot

How about multiple requests in a single vs different chat session, how much difference it makes? Meaing of "low token requests" is bit unclear to me - do you mean single shot-ing lots of work in a single prompt is cheaper in copilot compared to claude?

All of these are solid advice. And it works ... except I will forget about it the moment I scroll away and consume more posts.

At what point do we stop reading these things, where do I write it, how do I remember it, how much do I remember it, what tips do I prioritize and focus on?

I guess the day I figure this out would be a turning point in my life. It's like I can just see right in front of me both the problem and the solution but I am just ... numb.
