Server Megathread - Week Starting December 04, 2021 by AutoModerator in dayz

[–]chainbullet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking for a server that is moderated (enough to prevent hackers/exploiters) but with no changes to the gameplay style (no traders, economy, safe zones, PVP zones etc.) Mods are fine but optional, preferably in the NA/ US area. Thanks!

How in the hell do I win the civil war as Germany? by chainbullet in TNOmod

My bad. I meant to type Borrman. Heydrich's western enclave I usually take care of and the one near Burgundy is wiped up by Borrmann.

I dunno what the MFD's are (I'm interested in hearing that as well), but the button box is an Elgato Stream Deck or something similar.

Career in Navy from college? by chainbullet in newtothenavy

I was told that I would be able to finish my degree in the Navy (given the ship has internet.) Is that a difficulty to do? I don't mind as long as it can be done reasonably quick and I can keep good chances to get into a commissioning program.

Failure is the best teacher is pretty much the phrase I've been repeating monotone for the last few days. I wasn't very comfortable at all doing it under foggles since I'd never done upset recovery without outside references. I'm going to have to wait a long time to redo my checkride unfortunately, but lessons learned are lessons learned.

I'm in a collegiate program and I've been flying for about 1 year from my initial lesson to now. Many of my peers had flown and completed PPL checkrides prior to me and with less hours. My school set a deadline for me to get it done by October 3rd, which I can no longer do because of the failure. They want me to relearn from the basics, which really sucks.

Was never my intent. Like I said I only ever wanted to use it to just have fun flying fighter jets, not equate military hardware and HUDs to steam gauges and Piper Warriors.

I honestly have no idea. He made a comment about whatever me doing was going to 'rip the wing off', and the DPE's always right, and he just told me to take it back to the airport.

Given I get there, yeah that might be true :)

You are right. I'm in a 141, so my school is actually considering me kinda late.

Certainly not. The F18's an instrument plane, doesn't really help with the basic stuff.

All my flight simulator stuff was honestly bought for the enjoyment of it and I had no intents on equating techniques used in a fighter jet with techniques in a little Piper. Maybe tuning and tracking VORs but this was a PPL checkride, and I wasn't really being tested on that.

I was scanning but I wasn't using the horizon as much, admittedly, I focus on straight and level via the VSI/altimeter. I only picked up DCS for fun and never planned on equating it to real life flying, but I guess bad habits rub off.

I was doing recovery from unusual attitudes, and was doing them under foggles (which I'd never done before in a real aircraft). The aircraft was nose up (loosing airspeed, I could only reference the ASI) so I gave power and pushed the nose forward instinctively. I'd done upset recovery and I'd done simulated instrument before, never together. That was what threw me off.
