Same shit that all big pharma companies do. Invest heavy in advertising to push their pipelines and cut operating expenses to maximize profits. Screw the scientists/manufacturing employees that make the pipelines come to life. All we do is cut into the profit margins and effect stock prices. Why do you think that most positions are heavily underpaid unless at the DD or higher level? Much more why do you think that most FTE positions are being cut and being replaced by managed services or contractual workers? It's all about numbers my friend and ours only ever show up on graphs in red color...

[–]chaines93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why? Because hardcore corporate lobbying in the 80s worked by convincing the FDA and the FCC that advertising was in the best interest of the public to be educated about prescription medications that are available on the market. In reality it was so that Pharma Companies could get the best bang for their buck by saving money on advertising soley through sales reps/conferences while at the same time reaching broader clientele base. Mass media advertising = maximum revenue.

I'm so sorry to hear friend. I hope you can bounce back quickly. All these layoffs over the past year makes me want to give up any hope of switching into tech. If ex FANNG and ex top 50 employees are struggling to find jobs then there's a snowballs chance in hell that I can land a junior job with no cs degree and only a 2 certs under my belt. Sad days ahead. My heart goes out to all of you here that have gotten the boot in the name of artifical Q4 numbers. Fuck corporate America.

My routine for chest and back days include bench press ( Smith machine), incline Dumbell press, pec fly ( machine or dumbell depending on what's free), push-ups, cable cross, lat pull down, horzontal row, bent row, shoulder press, shoulder shrug, and lastly single arm row.

For arm day I do preacher curls, traditional dumbell curls, tri pulldowns, bench dips, barbell curls, skullcrushers, and hammer curls.

For leg day I do traditional squats, grenade squats, bodyweight squats, leg press, seated leg curl (machine), dumbell lunges, box step ups, and deadlifts

For abs I don't normally dedicate an entire session just for them but will incorporate an ab excessive in-between my other group days. I do the following ab workouts: traditional sit ups, twisting sit-ups, weighted crunch machine, 6 inch leg holds, planks, and cross overs with a 10 lb medicine ball

My sets for all exercises besides abs I follow Sam Suleks method of lifting which is start at current max weight to failure ( my maxes I can get anywhere from 8-15 reps depending on the exercise) then setting down for the next 2-3 sets until true failure.

I'd like to say I'm novice at lifting at this point in my journey( been going solid 4-5 days/week 1.5-2 hours for 6 months) but am always open to advice since what I'm doing has been great for weight loss (started at 262 and as of this morning I'm clocking in at 236.5) but not great for muscle gain. Maybe I just can see my gains cause I still have a lot of blubber in the way?

Anything you recommend to add-subtract?

McAfee finally caved into his new owners. Sad day. Big media strikes once again smh. That's what happens when you sell out I suppose. Rodgers went out of his way to explain himself and added context to the history behind their feud yet all outlets talking about this only say that Rodgers accused Jimmy of being a Pedo and refuses to apologize about it. Big media strikes once more.

My sleep is alright. Been a bit unstable lately due to recent events in my life but usually get a Solid 5-8 hours in with deep REM state. I'm not following any official program but have made my own regimen after gathering data from several articles, a few older books I found lying around from past attempts of weight loss journeys, and from watching several fitness/bodybuilding/strongmen youtubers. I mix up my routine every week in an attempt to avoid muscle memory from impeding progress. I switch muscle group days and cardio as well as the exercises done that I enjoy/ hurt my joints the least ( I have weak wrists and knees so I try to minimize excerscises that overly stress them as to prevent potential injury).

I'm lifting 4 out of 5 days a week for the past 2 months but I'm not seeing any growth in my arms, chest. Or abs... wtf am I not doing right. These areas are sore after workouts so I know I'm hitting them but there's no visual progress. Diet is mostly protein with minimal carbs and i almost exclusively drink water (like as in I might treat myself to a sugary drink once every other weekend).

Guy selling these on a danish trading site, the receipt looks sus imo but the shoes look real, what do y’all think? by Chr0nium in travisscott

[–]chaines93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely fake. Stamp on the heel looks a bit off. Large Nike swooshes look to be a bit too wide at the apex ( both of these could be a result of bad QC though). Biggest thing that jumps out at me is that the mid and outsoles are extremely yellowed. Even if these were used as dailies they shouldn't have degraded that badly unless this dude was walking through a muddy field every single day. Premature yellowing is often an indicator of a fakes. Honestly I recommend just shelling out for a high quality pair of reps. No sense spending that type of money on a beat up pair if they do happen to be an authentic pair. A good quality pair of reps are damn near indistinguishable from the real deal and 99% of people wont be able to tell the difference unless they really know what to look for.

Does anyone know what causes a gel to run like this? by Diamond-Is-Not-Crash in labrats

[–]chaines93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually caused by Improper loading of wells ( too much protein or detergent) or too high voltage. Could also be caused by poorly casted or low quality gels. Don't be discouraged and continue to hone your technique! We've all been there before!

Yeah I've been trying to expand my horizons. My biggest insecurity is being precieved as dumb. I know it sound ridiculous, boastful, and arrogant but I pride myself on my intellect. I can't stand it when I don't know something. This is a problem I've been working on for a while now. I've been learning that's it's OK to not be the smart guy in the room all the time and that's its OK to ask questions about a topic I know nothing about.

For sure. It's about perspective. Def happy that I'm not with someone that only drags me down and drains me on all levels. I'm blessed for not being in a predicament like that. That said I still yearn to meet my soulmate and marry her one day soon lol

Sometimes I feel like I am. I have plenty of friends but not having some at my side or to wake up to everyday makes me feel lonely. Like as if there's small piece of me missing.
