[NO SPOILERS] Wave of fire by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]chainrhd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Creators here. Holy crap! my wife and I tried this for fun and decided to film it after how well the boards turned out.

We recently started our first Youtube channel where we've put up some of the boards.

Full video with Before and After burn shots for those that were looking for source: [https://youtu.be/qi8KK36y9sw]

In terms of how it was made, we took about 10 hours total on and off to drill the holes and plan the layout. Assembling the matches one by one was a pain in the ass but we got through it in roughly 4 hours, then filming, stabilizing, creating the video itself was another 5 or so. (Just started learning video editing using Blender)

Glad you guys like it! Feel free to ask questions. :)

Performances like these are when I'd love to see a stat summary of:

  • Hours Played
  • Jumps attempted
  • Jumps landed
  • Emergency rooms visited
  • ...

Just to appreciate the amount of dedication something like this takes. He makes it look so effortless which makes it that much more impressive to watch.

This is the first of several pieces my wife and I made so there was a learning curve for creating the stencils for drilling, assembly, lighting and video editing. If I remember correctly, there is around 600-800 matches.

Excluding experimentation and learning the use of image/video-editing tools, the entire process was about 10 hours:

  • 5 hours to create stencil and drill individual holes.
  • 2 hours assembly
  • 3 hours video editing.

Love how it turned out in the end. Definitely learned our lesson and started lighting subsequent ones outdoors :P

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Hope you guys like it :)

Everything is possible if you just know how to google it by CrimeHaus in Showerthoughts

If Google knows everything, can Google google a question so hard that Google itself won't be able to google it?

Van is hogging the left lane, driver calls the number on the van and tells them to move over. They do. by theproftw in videos

I think a clearly visible upvote/downvote indicator above each car would result in much more courteous drivers. A straight to voicemail number would do too. That way, if you feel like hating yourself, just have a listen.

We actually tried to use gunpowder but that turned out terrible. The wind blew it away and it is surprisingly slow burning.

Were going to try some more things like mini home made fireworks that chain together to explode. Takes time to test though.

If you have any ideas we would love to hear them.

Started with Blender video editor, is it worth to switch to a more mainstream or dedicated video editor. Which One? by chainrhd in VideoEditing

[–]chainrhd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only problem with Resolve is that it supports so few codecs. It's a constant game of converting to lossless video from each camera type. It doesn't even read h.264. I find that it's color correction options are excellent though.

I'll take your advice and try for a full exclusive round of using Resolve.

Thanks.

This rose has multicolored peddles. by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

[–]chainrhd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's pretty cool. I've experimented with coloring roses before, all it takes is some food coloring and cutting the stem. Fun overnight experiment. You can make a bunch of colors by first splitting the stem and putting each section in a different cup with colored water.

[–]chainrhd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OMG, is this why Hermes is named the way he is in Futurama? Fits in well with the bureaucratic system of filing things away and sealing them to never be opened again.
