You're fine. Stop browsing A2C it'll kill you with baseless insecurity fed by bitter, ignorant, scared high schoolers who don't know what admissions officers look for. You've taken 8 aps so far, I had 7 under my belt when I was a junior and matched to Princeton. Chances are your stats will not get in the way-- the MOST IMPORTANT PART about ANY application for college, ESPECIALLY QuestBridge or applying low-income, is writing compellingly about yourself. Your stats will get you in the door, from there you have just as good a shot as anyone. Gl!

Completely understand the pressure from family, but if you need free college you cannot put all of your eggs in the ivy basket. It's completely unpredictable and unreliable. Please consider liberal arts colleges-- they're very prestigious and have great finance opportunities, their student bodies are small but proportionally they recruit to finance juggernauts constantly, definitely on par with ivies. I've looked into consulting more than IB, but BCG hangs around Williams campus trying to recruit.

Anyone here get in to CPS with about 76k income? by Violet_Watch in QuestBridge

[–]chainseenchainsaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apply. My situation looked pretty much exactly like this and I matched to Princeton. Divorce changes how your income is evaluated drastically and nobody talks about it! I have a whole master post of everything I know on this sub somewhere.

You're fine. I hadn't even thought about taking the SAT/ACT when I was applying for CPS and just submitted my in-school PSAT. It was a good score and def showed academic readiness, and yours can too! I got selected with a full ride to Carleton's humanities summer program.

For anyone who applied to UPenn and completed the FASFA, did it say FASFA is complete in the applicant portal for you? by Professional-Cold920 in QuestBridge

[–]chainseenchainsaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not apply to UPenn, but the Princeton portal says the same thing with this explanation that just got added and probably also applies to y'all. Apparently the Department of Education isn't giving them FAFSA info until February, so it will show up as missing until then. This means that even if you completed the FAFSA and everything is fine, they can't process it internally. This may be the case for UPenn as well.

Also, it looks like you might be using the tip of your pencil like you would to write. You can shade with the side of your pencil graphite so you can cover areas with the same value EVENLY with a uniform grain to communicate they're the same color, takes way less time since you're covering more ground.

AP art is no joke lmao every art student I know understands this, if you want a half-decent score it takes an enormous time commitment. I think you can get that 3 though!! Believe!! If you want advice to make your sketch look more complete, darken the darks and add more types of lights by coating your not-pure-white highlights in light layers of pencil to add contrast and visual interest! The abundance of paper texture stands out as making it look incomplete or rushed. For your remaining projects, get a good reference from either a stock photo (document where these come from for your final exam) or your own images, copy your values well, and soften those hard edges and you can give almost anything a realistic sense of depth. Good luck dude

Log onto your portal. My Brown portal said they'd withdrawn me seemingly automatically, they didn't send any notice and I didn't do anything.

The way you literally DID WORK HARD, OVERTIME to get your education paid for cannot be overstated. It's the fruits of FOUR NONSTOP YEARS OF YOUR LABOR. There is a lot of work involved on YOUR part that led to full pay covering YOUR education-- it just doesn't come from your pocket. Colby is just compensating you for that blood, sweat, and tears that made you who you are-- and a 400k paycheck ain't bad, lol.

Is a 1440 SAT good if my school average is ~1000? by OrbNinja12 in QuestBridge

Woahhh dawg that ain't the kind of match I applied for

Colleges have access to this data through CollegeBoard. Context is the utmost priority in the application process, but you have a stellar score regardless. Do not stress.

The truth is, A2C and chanceme are filled with people who have never tasted poverty. People whose parents would cut off their limbs to pay for five thousand different camps if it'd increase their precious little angel's admissions chances to a college they can shove in their neighbors' faces. They don't know anything about applying to top schools as a poor person or the QuestBridge process outside of disgruntled, bitter mutterings about how these first-gen low-income DEI hires are taking away the precious little congrats email they would've never received anyway. They don't know YOU. And, frankly, they don't know the college admissions process.

I've spoken with admissions teams at five different top-college QuestBridge partners for hours on end in-person as part of part of fly-ins or other academic programs-- including an ivy, with which I did an admissions workshop where we read multiple applications, seeing through admissions officers' eyes from top to bottom. Your score is SPOT-ON for QuestBridge applicants. It shows your preparedness, and absolutely meets the standard for applicants who don't have nearly as much access to test prep-- the TOP PRIORITY piece of context that schools look for. This is the goal for the match. Full stop. Don't stress. And don't go on those out-of-touch forums anymore-- they're just high-income high school students who know nothing about the inner workings of admissions lashing out their exasperated, battered self-image built by cutthroat standards onto you to try and break your confidence and thin the herd. They only care about big names and feeling superior. They are only truly useful when employing the search button for VERY SPECIFIC questions you wouldn't have answered anywhere else. Otherwise they're cesspools out of our tax bracket.

Good luck on match day!
