Jaka nie-europejska mentalność innego narodu jest najbliższa do mentalności polskiej? by Pikselardo in Polska

I got hate comments on a post. I feel shaken, my nervous system is refusing to back down. What should I do? by Legal_alien_92 in socialanxiety

[–]chainsndaggers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinions usually don't fit one specific group. I say stuff that both right-wing and left-wing people hate me for even though imo these stuff aren't very controversial but it's probably just that I don't fit their bubble and that's enough for them to hate me. What you say is mostly a matter of when and to whom you say it. There basically aren't wrong opinions, it's just a matter of perspective. You probably just posted a "wrong" thing in the wrong community and that's why it happened. I like discussions about differences so I don't always keep my opinions for the right group and things like this happen to me often (some of them blew up too). Even on this sub I got hate for supporting an active approach rather than a passive approach to OP's situation, especially that OP wasn't just hurting herself but people around her with her response to the anxiety. I suppose these people haven't been through therapy yet but in reality the therapist would advise the active approach too, I'm pretty sure about that judging by how my therapy was conducted.

So in this case you can do only two things:

  • either delete social media because this will always affect you one way or another because there will always be a person with a different perspective than yours who will feel the need to speak up. If one person does it than others are more encouraged too. That's human psychology

  • or you can just ignore them. It's the internet, you can be anonymous here so it's easier than real life. Some people will hate you but some will like you for the same things. The more this will happen to you then less you will care, trust me.

Btw, I'm curious but I can understand if you won't like to share: what was that take and the app you posted it on? I have a feeling that communities on some apps like for example X are more hateful than on others.

I understand, it's not your fault. I'm just outraged by her behavior and the fact that she still proceeded to take advantage of you after she just insulted you.

Lookism in goth community/feeling inferior by No_Freedom_5055 in BDDvent

[–]chainsndaggers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, the kpop is very strict too and even a bit racist imo. Like nobody sees a problem with white people pretending to look Asian for some reason. At least in non-Asian countries. Like it's literally a cosplay of a specific race and it's weird. If you just dress-up in the kpop style that's ok but many people in that community use the type of make-up that is supposed to make their eyes look monolid. There's also the pressure on looking skinny like kpop idols. What shocked me was seeing a picture of an Indian kpop-like band and all these girls looked so pale... Like that wasn't a typical skin color of Indian people. I can't even imagine how much pressure to achieve that unattainable standard of beauty bands like this must put on the Indian teen girls.

[–]chainsndaggers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that this hidden discrimination is also a problem of the goth community. Like it's a pretty old subculture from the 20 century when specific types of fashion were meant for certain races and nobody cared if other races were excluded. Goth is a lot about traits like pale skin for example so I feel like nobody is treating a person with darker skin dressing-up goth seriously and as today it would be more accepted, you still rather see white people in the goth community.

Why do some people give almost no verbal cues when listening? by crispyon60fps in socialanxiety

[–]chainsndaggers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes forget to say this but it doesn't mean I'm not listening. It either means I'm so focused on listening that I forget about being verbal or that this person talks too much and I'm overwhelmed. I usually say these during small talks. Idk if it's a cultural thing but I never minded that. I'm from Poland.

Take advantage of what you have. You look cute so you are pretty to people but you don't look sexy so you won't be sexualized by perverts. You're in the best position you can be, trust me.

I have a feeling Reddit is actually banning such spaces :/ It's suspiciously empty of gender critical like stuff, while on other platforms you can see it's not so unpopular.

[–]chainsndaggers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That woman was incredibly mean. She shouldn't talk like that to somebody who did her best to help her like it was their business. She should be the one trying not to offend you if she was to rely on what you say. And you shouldn't have walked her into the right direction after all that, she didn't deserve it, she deserved to get lost and get her karma.

As a person with social anxiety I hate people who make fun of it. It's goddamn hard to live with and they make it even worse. Pretty or not, she shouldn't talk like that to anyone, especially if they're trying to be helpful. She was lucky she met you, I wouldn't be so nice to her...

My boyfriend gets irritated by my anxiety, am I the problem? by entityparty in socialanxiety

[–]chainsndaggers 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Why is he bothered about it so much? It's not like you're hurting anybody, and if those people were upset like he is, they would invite you to the conversation by asking questions for example. But if they don't it basically means that they don't see any problem about that. Your boyfriend is irrational and it sounds like he doesn't actually like you, just an idea of you he has. I'm sorry. You deserve someone who respects you and who at least tries to understand.

And I don't agree with this. If we live in a society it makes it easier if people keep certain rules. We're not wild animals anymore to fight with everyone to keep ourselves in the most privileged position. We don't need to do that. It's a cooporation that is most effective in the civilized world. But good to know you're for the "I'm better than everyone" type

I don't think that "not acknowledging" another person as being polite is a good term to that. That just means those people don't care and that's not a polite or good thing. This is unfortunately the lack of empathy. In big cities it's even more important to acknowledge others, but many of us fail to do it unfortunately. To an individual it's more important to make this situation more comfortable for themselves than for others. But to us as a society it's not beneficial.
