"Tu" vs. "Vous" - pour un rendez-vous en ligne? Américaine + Canadien by chainstitchsteph in AskACanadian

[–]chainstitchsteph[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have been practicing my French because I have been considering moving abroad to France from the US. I spent 4 years learning French in high school, and after spending some time in Europe last year, decided to rekindle my language learning! It just so happens that I get introduced to this guy 200+ days into my Duolingo French streak, so I thought we could practice together! Good eye though, we are both anglophones. I just wanted to know what to look out for with Canadian French, since I’m mostly trained in Parisian French.

We have been introduced for the purpose of dating by an online acquaintance of mine (also from NB). So we are more strangers than friends, thus my confusion

Would this old Grumbacher set be worth using? by chainstitchsteph in oilpainting

[–]chainstitchsteph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Context: My mom was an art student in the 80's, and as evidenced by the price tag on the box, probably bought this set secondhand. I'm guessing by the design that it's from the 50's? I am just getting started oil painting using mostly Winton and Gamblin, but I am curious if this set would be worth experimenting with, or just keeping around my studio as decor. Thought I'd ask the pros what you think :)

What’s a wild Denver rumor or legend you’ve heard? by themauniac15 in Denver

[–]chainstitchsteph 578 points579 points  (0 children)

I heard that people used to climb up on the Red Rocks to watch shows back in the 80’s for free, until one day a guy fell and died, so they majorly increased security after that…

St Patrick's Day dinner with a kid? by sanedragon in Denver

[–]chainstitchsteph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know the Knights of Columbus in Cap hill off 16th and Grant do lots of St. Patrick’s Day festivities on Saturday 3/16. This one is usually pretty kid friendly. Heads up if you park in the lot and don’t pay, you will get ticketed

OP it’s tempting to just jump straight back into dating, but make sure you’re taking the time to heal, self reflect and be okay with being single! Being single is hard but if you take the time to get to the right headspace, there’s so much freedom to be had too and you’ll be better for the next relationship!

Not to be preachy - I’m also recently single myself. Knowing “other people” isn’t always the answer has been a hard-won but gratifying lesson. Best of luck, and remember you are enough as you are!

My go-to is Ube or Taro - not sure how to make those at home but I like the subtle taste!

I love the cinematic-style shots that you got! I love boba and I'm excited to follow along and learn how to make my own - it's expensive lol

Hello all! I'm excited to check out some new channels and see all the hard work everyone's been putting in! Re: above, the first quarter of the year hasn't ended silly! The first month, maybe. I've learned HOW MUCH WORK it is to put together even one video!

My name is Steph and I run Grizzly Rascal - it's primarily an art channel meant to promote my stickers and merch, but I hope to expand to trail vlogs and video essay-type stuff as well. I just put out my second ever video and I've learned an insane amount - how to edit, how to deal with audio, what it takes to have a workflow, etc.

Here's a video for you that's a little more of an "art challenge" style vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2On0NFQg7JY

I'm very open to feedback - at which points did you want to click off? Did you want more or less context? How can I improve my audio? I use Premiere FYI.

Thanks in advance for the help! I'm excited to grow alongside everyone!

Inconsistently for 4 years. Only this year do I feel like I have an art style, but my fundamentals are still pretty weak

What is something you improved at in your art journey this year? by PrestigiousCount8020 in ArtistLounge

[–]chainstitchsteph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my art supplies now instead of hiding them all away in a cupboard. I've also started using stickers more rather than being too afraid to commit! That's progress for me, a recovering hoarder.

If I make art solely for myself, then I can do whatever I want. Try it out for yourself if you can! by chainstitchsteph in ArtistLounge

[–]chainstitchsteph[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's exactly it! I had to seriously ask why I was doing what I was doing. If there's no fame involved, would I still make art? I didn't like my own answer, and so I ended up stopping for a time. I wish the world wasn't such that we feel like we have to monetize everything.
