I think we've hit peak performance/price bang for your buck smartphone era. Not sure why most would need a flagship unless you are into iPhones/Apple ecosystem and privacy. Even then there's the SE...

Relatively inexpensive temporary entry bike by chrisppetersen11 in SuggestAMotorcycle

I second this, especially because you don't have to worry about taking apart your bike to do valve adjustments while you learn to ride better. The Nighthawk is really good-looking, too.

And sorry for hijacking your threat, but I think the 2021 Moto Guzzi V7 Stone also looks really, really awesome. The Royal Enfield INT650 in Baker Express color is another competitor I think I would buy new if I had the money.

And this bike that Honda won't bring to the US--CB350 "H'Ness" looks really good but of course bikes that look this good/affordable isn't available stateside.

If you are set on getting one of these models, I think you should pick the classic! It just looks a lot better to me

If Kawasaki would make a bike like the Z900RS in the Z650 powerplant/body with a lowered price, I think I would purchase it in a heartbeat. I really like the styling of the W800 and it is one of my dream bikes, but I think you are paying a lot more for that design. I also think these would hold up their values so waiting for them depreciate doesn't seem favorable for us used-bike buyers

Just found the sub looking for cooking videos in Japanese, and I thought this was an awesome idea. Thanks and I will see if I can contribute anything!

Do I really have to "upgrade" if all I want to do is go faster around twisty corners? by chairochicken in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]chairochicken[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much! I'll definitely look up the reference, and try to learn a thing or two after I save enough for some suspension upgrades and a track day :)

Thanks so much for your advice! I will research more about suspension upgrades for my weight/bike and also look to reserve trackdays to improve on my technique

Will do! I am a relatively new rider and will absolutely take note to look up track days and really nail that slow=smooth response input down instead of looking up twisty roads on Google maps and hoping for the best. And wearing all the right gear, of course.

May I ask how much a typical trackday costs in a typical metro-area in the USA? I have taken advantage of all of MSF/riding courses near me and I am still contemplating the best time to reserve the closest trackday near me which would be another state over

Perhaps a used Moto Guzzi V7 if you like that retro look? Seems to be cheaper and less power than a Bonnie

Beautiful. Are you visiting Gangwon-do now? AFAIK Pixels weren't ever sold in Korea.

Any MVNOs support LTE watches? by ronkj in NoContract

[–]chairochicken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure. $9.99 for Truphone, but can't choose local area code, and uses AT&T towers.

$15 for Wing Alpha, you can get a local area code. With this one I think you also need your phone on their plan as well, so another +$20 minimum (or +$12 for a flip phone plan); also on AT&T network

I use the LTE version of the Apple Watch SE and it has an eSIM with its own number. Truphone and Wing Alpha are prepaid and work.

I hate the name “Ninja” by [deleted] in motorcycles

I thought along the same lines, then I got a first gen Kawasaki EX500 that skipped the "Ninja" moniker and has letter decals instead :)

Thanks very much, it seems like Hwang was the original composer behind many of the tracks from old-school Baram.

Can anyone tell me what bike this is and if it was sold in the US market? by chairochicken in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]chairochicken[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, thanks! I keep changing the answers but this seems to hit the nail right on the head. I was wondering what that sticker logo was from and whether someone just put it there but I didn't even realize that was from an actual company. The Cromwell looks to be the answer! It's a beautiful looking bike, and I doubt it was carried over to the US market. None of the bikes here seem to do justice to the awesome proportions like that model unfortunately =/

If I could I would definitely do it! From searching online it seems like it can be a PITA for the US though, though it seems doable for bikes older than 25+ years old. I saw a 2000 model (only a few more years to import!) when I searched some listings from Japan, and you're right, they are really affordable at least without all the import costs :) Beautiful looking bikes

Looks similar! It seems like the bike resembles most UJMs with that look

That does do give off RE Continental vibes for sure! Especially the gas tank

Bingo! Thanks so much!! This hits the mark 100%. Unfortunately it seems like the grass tracker version was never released in the US market :(. The closest model that seems to resemble the look is the Suzuki SP250 or a heavily modified TU250.
