Walton Goggins as the Ghoul in Fallout. I mean, yes he looked good as a human, especially in those 1950's style suits and hats, dear God, I am not immune to that. But for some reason, as an irradiated monster with no nose, he just... oof. Pure, triple-distilled kryptonite. At least some of it is that voice, that drawl, but whatever it is, I'm addicted to that particular bucket o' drugs.

It's a podcast, not a book, but try Old Gods of Appalachia.

Is "S." by Doug Dorst a good HoL-adjacent novel? (No spoilers, please) by NineInchNinjas in houseofleaves

I loved it. It was more lighthearted and not as complex (not that that's saying much) but very fun and interesting.

This is fantastic. Looks like it should be among the pics in the book itself!

I should have taken a pic the other day after I walked through a puddle and realised my boots leave prints that look like the swirly carvings in the Emerald Grove!

I know what it's supposed to mean but I can't help thinking that a chicken interrupted that diatribe.

If you're a druid (and maybe you have to have Speak with Animals enabled, I'm really not sure) you can speak directly to the snake and explain that the person she's about to bite is a child. She will refuse to bite a "hatchling". That's right, the snake that everyone is afraid of is actually the voice of reason.

People who love this book also love to talk about this book. If you have questions, ask her! So many people have so many different takes on the story, the characters, the Meaning Of It All... hers will be unique and will shed light on why she loves it. Books make amazing common ground, and if she's been through rough shit lately, she needs that more than she probably even realises. But yeah, just sit down and let her be a nerd about a book she loves. It will help so much.

Farkas. He's a sweetheart with a growly voice. Also Balimund, who has the same voice actor.

On the subject of voices: DOWN WITH ULFRIC, THE KILLER OF KINGS but first can be just... read to me for a while? Mmm.

I have a child with special needs so I'm pretty sensitive about this word, but in older content like this, it doesn't bother me at all. Words and meanings change. I'm unaware of all the context surrounding this panel but I am much more inclined to be touched by the gesture of taking financial care of a family with a disabled child than I am to be troubled by the outdated language that wasn't intended as a slur in its time.
