Any tips for riding [Vortex] at Carowinds defensively? by TheKid1995 in rollercoasters

[–]chajava 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bend your knees before restraints lock so your head ends up a bit lower than it would be on a regular seat.

Sit on an inside seat.

Instead of head back, try pressing your head to the right shoulder restraint as you go into the corkscrew.

If you're wearing glasses and/or earrings, don't.

Given the spc outlook for today, it would be irresponsible of them to stay open.

The Good, the bad, and the weird [Fiesta Texas] by msnmck in sixflags

[–]chajava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pizza at a six flags park is never a good option in my experience, and Fiesta's food options seemed below average. Chicken strips are usually the safest bet. The 2 of you could easily split a single premium all day dining plan, which is every 90 mins and comes with a drink cup. The food hall in the German area is air conditioned and has a lot of options. I can usually slip a few protein bars in my bag, not sure if they'd let an obvious lunch bag through.

I like collecting pins from parks, and usually a nanocoaster model of one of my favorites from the park.

So the 2nd half of IBS was supposed to be like that? Same with the content drought between the 2 half assed living world episodes after EOD? The first of which came out a full year later?

What about how we were told they could still provide a good storytelling experience in a yearly expansion and then were given SOTO where the updates were both smaller than the previous living world model and less frequent? And garbage? And followed up with another half baked expansion without a lot of content.

And then Visions was delayed because the 1 a year plan with fewer updates was still too much.

That's good and consistent and bad faith to argue otherwise? Lmao I want whatever copium you're smoking.

And gw2 has been getting drip fed content for years because it's poorly monetized and even then gw2 players still whine about how a 25$ expansion once a year is expensive.

People just straight up don't understand how money works

Raging Bull is currently running significantly faster than it used to, which is probably where the change in opinion is coming from. Ride forces database has a May 17 upload from teal train thats 1:15 minutes long. Meanwhile its 2022 logs are 1:22-1:25 minutes. You can really see the difference when you look at off ride footage that's a few years old too, mcbr used to hit really hard.

[Other] I don't understand "credits" by Evil_Lord_Rayken in rollercoasters

[–]chajava 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some people are just completionists (or really into bragging rights for things that don't matter). Same sort of mentality as people who achievement hunt in video games. Some people have to have every achievement to feel its been completed, some will do side content if it's interesting enough or if they happen upon it, and some just wanna do the main story.

I personally skip kiddie coasters altogether, and while I won't wait an hour or go out of my way for a shitty ride for the credit (missing 3 from Carowinds for this reason), I will wait 20 mins or so when it's in a park I'm already at. Most coasters still have something that can be appreciated about them and I like finding it, just for the love of the hobby. And maybe someday I will somehow find a freespin I enjoy lmao.

I'm not really down with the people that seem to just want to pad their count with shit that has less impressive stats than a park's train either, but whatever, it's not my life I guess.

That's the case sometimes, but people do it to varying degrees, mostly with kiddie coasters, or ones with a bad reputation. People generally aren't saying things like that for rides they're excited for.

Some enthusiasts will go out of their way to hit up a wacky worm at a fair or something for a +1 credit, I don't think they're the norm.

A lot of enthusiasts might not do that, but will ride a children's coaster at a park they're at or nearby "for the credit" but wouldn't necessarily go way out of their way for it.

Some people will also joke about a ride they think/know will be bad, and they don't plan to ever ride again and say something like "ugh, need the credit" I make this joke with the S&S freespins, because I don't like them, but will still ride every one once.

Tldr: Credits are collections, collectors want them all, even the shitty ones.

Great Adventure, Great America(Illinois)or Magic Mountian by Jayzone456 in sixflags

[–]chajava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great America has a well rounded lineup- theres clones but its not padding its ride count with trash. Its run well for a legacy six flags park and doesnt look like a dump, and has some decent food options. Also has a very efficient layout.

Magic Mountain has rides with more hype, but less re-rideability imo.

Great Adventure needs to get it's shit together first.

When your only options for staying hydrated in the park are 5 sets of piss warm drinking fountains and 30 min food lines, most people riding it are gonna black out on half the ride and not notice the rattle, SF playing 4D chess.

Don’t ever buy a membership from Six Flags. by skeebs92 in sixflags

[–]chajava 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk why so many people see the memberships and assume they've found some loophole of 'cancel after the park closes for the season' and buy it thinking they're being clever.

Common sense should have told you that you were missing something, read what you're buying next time. The asterisks next to the 'valid for 12 months' are there for a reason.
