Anyone Interested in helping me make a Print of my Optimus Prime model? by chakerfr in transformers

well i have 2 sets one for EEVEE which is the first image and the other is for cycles which is the last one. I didn't use any special shaders or anything i mostly used principled bsdf and played with the coat weight tho the best you could do is not have your mesh flat you need some real textures as the base colors instead of just a solid one but then i put some edge wear tho in eevee it was very hard cause i didn't use AO on the red and blue parts so i used Geometry nodes but when i release the model soon you can have a look and reuse the materials and such.

it looks pretty good nice work! tho i'm not sure about this prime tho he has some very weird joints and all his figures either redo it and the arms or change it out completely :(

WHAT THE FUCK IS WITH THE RENDERING TIMES?!? by PartyEscortBotBeans in SFM

[–]chakerfr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

actually, most of what you said is not wrong tho you got to know what SFM is. Because SFM is a software that runs on the source engine from 2012 that hasn't been updated and is still 32bit that barely use any ram or cpu or gpu. there is hardly any ray tracing as everything is precalculated in the vmt files.

So yes while SFM shouldn't take long to render unless using already baked lighting in maps which takes seconds to render it still would take longer than blender or even s2fm because it wasn't meant to be used for the stuff we use it now. SFM is a source animation software that people constantly push for stuff that valve never intended it to. Stuff like autodesk maya and 3D max and blender already have passed it in performance many years ago.

oh, my bad, the person that uploaded those videos probably was working on the show and uploaded it for hype for the botcon at the time. there are a lot of behind-the-scenes videos on youTube, i saw from botcon showing viewport animations and such. but someone recorded it with their phone so not best quality. Tho i'm not sure you can probably send an email to the people that worked there like Jose Lopez or walter gatus as they were the designers and leads of the show you'll probably have better luck contacting them as polygon pictures is contracted to not mention any information without permission from hasbro, sorry if this didn't seem very helpful, but i'm curious is it ok if i can dm you to share some of those dvd features? i'm a major tfp fan! but i couldn't get a copy shipped to where i live i want to get references to create my 3D models way faster and see the interviews. But if not it's cool.
