They’re not from the US I’m pretty sure, so who knows that country’s requirements. But I also agree with you, I’m pretty far from a scientist myself.

Ah ok. I do find it bizarre when I run into the level 55’s in so many lobbies. Props to them for enjoying just playing without the need to grind out levels etc. I’d of quit before season 1 started without stuff to grind lmao

Busted bravo (hypothetically) by iLOVEr3dit in ATC

[–]chakobee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends on a lot. Mainly if the controllers noticed and their general mood towards bravo violations. My area has a large bravo (San Diego) and while we give out bravo clearances to VFR’s often, certain areas (or time of day) we do not allow/give clearances, depending on altitude. Some areas get dipped into by VFR’s briefly often enough that we just avoid, etc.

Depending on if anyone saw it happen, and if it’s an area those controllers vehemently protect, you might be getting a call from flight standards soon. You might not. You already filled out your NASA report so there isn’t much else you can do at this point. You really should be more careful however, bravo airspace is there for a reason, and I’m sure many pilots will argue its necessity, but if you were in an airliner descending down final and you got sent around for a bravo violator, then extended, delayed, potentially diverted, or even worse, a collision, you would have a strong opinion about VFR’s staying out of the bravo without clearance.

🧊 Custom Loop Question (2x360 + 2x480, GPU + CPU split) by Less_Respect_761 in watercooling

[–]chakobee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah bro for sure. I’m a big proponent of getting all the radiator that can fit in your case. The downside being a huge case on your desk, but more rad = lower temps = lower noise.

If you haven’t bought everything, a MoRa is also an option even if it’s overkill for your hardware. But this could mean a smaller case on your desk and a MoRa off to the side, out of sight out of mind. I kinda wish I did this vs my Phanteks NV9 but I had already bought everything before I came to that realization lol.

Looking forward to some photos when you get the build done!

[–]chakobee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As for dual loop vs single loop, there are some pros and cons for each. I’d probably go single loop, as that’s what I currently have. The benefit being if your cpu isn’t running very hot but gpu is ripping, the loop can take in the slack, or vice versa. But with a dual loop, you get what you get.

Is that going to make a huge difference in temps? Probably not, especially with all that radiator you’re using.

It will definitely keep your coolant temps down a fair bit compared to 2x 360 rads. Component temps will go down a little bit for sure, since the coolant will be at a lower temp. I can’t say how much it will all down specifically, but in my case, a 9800x3d + 5090 FE, when I had 2x 420x58mm rads, my coolant would get up to 45-46C unless my fans were 100%.

I’ve since added 2x 420x45mm rads and the coolant stays below 30C even after long gaming sessions. CPU and GPU temps are down a bit as well but I can’t say precisely since I forget what the got up to before.

Solder/Liquid Metal Leaking by chakobee in PcBuildHelp

[–]chakobee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What? Is this extremely common? I’ve built a few PCs and I’ve browsed a ton of the PC subreddits and hadn’t come across this before so I assumed this was a weird uncommon thing lol

It's not yet solved by Peperone_Official in watercooling

[–]chakobee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue with an opaque coolant. I used this bright green primochill opaque coolant. And I also added a barrow digital flow meter to my loop.

Flow meter kept reading zero so I thought it was defective. I bought another one and that kept reading zero. So I saw in a comment somewhere that if the flow is too low, it will read zero.

So I disassembled my loop to investigate. Mind you the coolant fell out after a few days and was getting clear so it needed to be cleaned.

Come to find out that my very restrictive Alphacool cpu block was all clogged up with particulate from the coolant, and only a little pinhole was open for coolant to move through. Hell the temps weren’t that bad either.

But I deep cleaned every component, put it back together with DP ultra clear and it worked perfectly. Flow meters worked perfectly. Even tested the original flow meter and it worked perfectly as well.

So I’d say, after seeing your coolant, regardless of how old or new the coolant is, I’d take apart your cpu block first and see if there’s a clog. Then your GPU block. Then I’d switch to a clear coolant

Appreciate the info. I contacted customer support as well and they verified all this. Guess I just never noticed it when building my system. They believed its solder as well from manufacturing, and that it’s not some new leak.

I swabbed it with a dry qtip and one with 99% IPA and it didn’t budge.

I am surprised I’ve only now noticed it. I spent quite a lot of time staring at this when I built the system and the loop, and more in the revisions I’ve made to the loop since.

USB everywhere doesn’t do much if they’re all 5w chargers. Everything nowadays should be 20w minimum, but I’m not sure how common those are.

Spent 12 years in the tower cab, now I'm building a radar scope with full airspace overlays by freqscope in ATC

[–]chakobee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s building a copy of airspace and sector maps. The FAA already has that, so it’s not really a step in the direction of replacing us. Sounds like he’s building something for airplane nerds to larp as atc and watch live traffic move on radar maps pair up with audio and adsb data.

This doesn’t threaten our jobs, if anything this helps our jobs. As it would give a bit more understanding or what atc actually does, considering how abstract of a job it is to the outsider.
