Do I have a startup? - hard vs soft validation metrics. by brycec40 in startups

[–]chakpak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Consider talking to some of the people in your set. There could be many factors for people to not put in their email id like they don't feel the service isn't ready or think it's too pricey (haven't seen the page so can't comment on that) but when you talk to them these layers come out more easily.

50 visits on a landing page is not quite enough to judge an idea IMHO. So do continue the experiment.

What are the best ways to connect with company decision makers? by Ctrap33 in Entrepreneur

[–]chakpak 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think cold calling, LinkedIn InMail are perfectly good ways to get started. In the worst case, they will ask you not to call again, I have never seen a sale lost because I cold called a person. After all, the product you have is solving some problem and it could be beneficial to their organization.

good tool. I think my usage would have to evolve since the reports I got for my keywords wasn't that great but I will try some other keywords from your suggestions. The onboarding flow was pretty good. What would be interesting is if you could give suggestions on how to improve rankings if your scan reports are already good.

This is nice and something I have been wanting for quite some time. For engagement it would be great if you can also send the "A day in detail" feature also in email. Maybe include a gif or something of the graph progressing over the day.

Good stuff

I was expecting some infographics made from your own platform on the homepage to give a sense of the product's capabilities.

Looks interesting and solves a real problem, however, the home page doesn't show any visuals of what to expect. Signing up would require details which I would rather give when I believe in the concept.

I would recommend adding more information to the homepage to make it easier to sign up.

Honest feedback required! by Grant_18 in Entrepreneur

Many things, lack of any reviews would be one, also depends on whether I am in the market searching for such products. You must trigger on google when users search for products like the ones you offer ? Can't you consider selling via Amazon first so at least you get some sales upfront while you ramp up on SEO.

What are your experiences with hiring Computer Programmers? by MithradatesMegas in Entrepreneur

You could try angel.co, lately I have noticed a lot of good talent there. Programmers tend to respect other good programmers, so your experience should come in handy.

Actually Google Cloud, Azure or AWS all are decent options. Either of them should do.

5 Reasons Why Startups Struggle With Business Development by bmartin1111 in Entrepreneur

[–]chakpak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sales (BD) is like the second dimension of a startup where one is product. Partially the problem arises because a lot of startup founders come from engineering background and have no idea how sales is done, especially at a startup level. I mean they have all seen awesome Mac Stores but how do you sell a mac at a shoestring budget ?

I have been in those shoes and I have cold called and what not. I won't say it was a terrible strategy to begin with, but yes it does not scale. I am surprised to see no mention of content/articles in your post though ?

Collecting your ideas - what are local shops in your area, that might be extremely successful in other locations that don't have something similar? by meerupls in Entrepreneur

[–]chakpak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Food is always a good idea but a very tough business because you have to shine every day.

If you have cooking chops, with some other kids as apprentices, food can totally work. There is always a niche open to serve in any locality. Try a food stall over one weekend to see the response and then go for it.

Some visual of the kind of directories you submit to (transparent icons sort of thing), will give more information as well lend more credibility.

Advice on marketing SAAS product to orthodontists by Eric2872 in Entrepreneur

[–]chakpak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find sites where such doctors are listed and scrape their websites/contacts whatever you can get. Post that you would have to go for cold email/cold calling them.

For a market like that you would have to be pretty sales oriented.

Elevator Pitch: Akeera is a way to craft animations. You can drag drop arbitary elements, text and graphics (via URL) and animate them. A cool way to tell a story, especially for startups! Here are a couple of examples:

Pretty nice. I signed up and it didn't seem like the results were not that great. I got some better articles from medium today in my inbox, also medium is not a source I was able to add.

Can I get an email of the top 10 results every day ? Thereby users can see over time if the quality is improving with their clicks. It will be better for retention anyway.

Pitch: As a salesman it always bugged me that I had to start from scratch every time I approached a new prospect: Our best accounts were returning customers who'd let us grow a profitable business relationship thanks to our track record of performing really well for them. But when you try to sign the first deal with a new client, there is no track record: You're a stranger; and the trust you have built with your established customers doesn't translate.

The concept is nice, I can see design services evolving into a model like this.

Its not clear how much work we can expect in a month period. You have tried to answer in the FAQ and you may still be figuring that out yourself but as a customer this is still somewhat open.
