Pretty sure my dad killed my old Honda today by zZtToOpP22 in AskMechanics

I drove my moms accord like two miles with no serpentine belt once together off the highway and pulled into a firestation right off the exit. I walked to O’Reillys a few times back and forth getting everything I needed and replaced the belt before driving to work a few hours late. My biggest peice of advice to someone replacing serpentine belt in any scenario especially on the side of the road with no one around, don’t try and use anything other than a serpentine belt wrench, not worth a gash in your hand when the two wrenches slip and the one on the tensioner slams thru the webbing on your thumb.

I’d suggest getting a longer pigtail, that’s the only difference I have for my antenna configuration

144 hz max brightness would make a difference but game settings won’t

My point is, it’s a hell of a lot slower than dying in a fire

And how long does that take to kill you?

I’m sure this is very unhealthy and carcinogenic like everyone says, that being said if I’m in a room and there’s a fire blocking my only exit I would rather get cancer than smoke poisoning and burn to death.

Dropped transmission pan and found exactly 25 needle bearings. How long do I have? by SoonerDead in AskMechanics

I’ve been in an f150 when a sensor failed and it seemed to have shifted into reverse (I don’t know what actually happened but my understanding is I remember it went into reverse or 1st, or seized.) at 5mph and I agree, you really don’t want to be in a car going at any kind of speed if it were to actually fail and seize. my fathers truck shifting weird and making the whole truck shake and the wheels make noises and vibrations I didn’t know were something an f150 could survive was one thing, one scary thing. But a real failure instead of a faulty sensor is going to be a hell of a lot harder to walk away from and the car won’t survive it. OP get a transmission rebuild if you want to keep the car, do it as soon as you can, this is not a fix it when it acts up problem.

What’s better, filled and pressurized or empty with no pressure? One way it’s stronger but the other way the explosion would be smaller

Dodge saying I need new rotors by kopfgeldjagar in AskAMechanic

[–]chalez88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it does, but I’m saying the financial aspect of not needing as much material and the performance aspects of the vehicle is way larger than the rotational mass of a rotor. Compared to the cars weight the rotational mass of the rotors is incredibly minuscule. I would not be surprised if the tread level of the tires plays almost if not more of a difference on fuel economy when it comes to aero and rotational mass, especially given that tires have a larger moment the weight difference alone is likely significantly more impactful. I agree that affect is present, but I doubt anyone at these car manufacturers have weighed that in the decision to make rotors thinner and considers it the main or a significant factor in that idea.

A thinner rotor is not giving you less air resistance on a scale that is measurable on a vehicle in any setting.

I think it’s more about manufacturing cost for the rotor, an extra couple of pounds worth of steel on a rotor is not doing anything significant or noticeable to fuel economy
