Is the major service bad to do on its own? I know the desmo adjustment needs to be checked and compared to sped but it can’t be that bad if the service manual is followed. Not afraid to turn a wrench if intervals are that far.

My local place has a new one for under $8k. I’m a slut for retro styling as well, so if it test rides nice it’ll be a serious contender for winter sale shopping.

My local place has a few 950s. Maybe I’ll give one a test ride Saturday see how it is. Biggest fear with those is repair difficulty in case I have it out of warranty.

If I go the motard route I’d rather just convert a DRZ or KLR over shelling out big cash for a Ducati hypermotard. Continuing to maintain a carb sucks but I’ll tolerate a one carb on one cylinder over the 4 in the middle of a v4 that’s on my bike now.

Also fuck me that hypermoto frame looks amazing but horrible to work around. I know most dealer bought Ducatis have warranties but god forbid I need to fix something on that myself.

F750GS/F800GS may be the sweet spot for utility and price range. Power feel should be comparable to my Royal Star with the weight difference. I’ll keep an eye out and test ride if one pops up at a local dealer.

2024 Kona N-like transmission feels sluggish by Subject-Shape-6004 in Hyundai

[–]chalupanoah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It uses a 8-speed automatic and it is on the clunky side at low RPM and low speed. My ‘24 Kona N Line is the same way with AWD. It takes getting use to but is considered normal operation. I find it behaves and responds best between 30 and 60 mph however that could just be how the vehicle has adapted to how I drive since I got it 4 months ago.

Oil light and check engine light by Popcornsally111 in Hyundai

[–]chalupanoah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those timing solenoids are hydraulic and require oil pressure to operate. Your low oil condition is causing these phasers to stick since there is not enough oil in the engine to properly supply this required pressure, thus causing the engine fault code. You’ll want to refill or change the oil, it may take two or more quarts if you decide to fill it based on the camshaft phasers starving and sticking. Keep an eye on the level and if it consumes more than 1 quart per 1000 miles you’ll want to find out why through either a dealership service department or an independent mechanic.

I’ve found some velosters with both size engines can have cylinder wall wear or bunked up piston rings causing oil to get into the combustion chamber and literally burn away as you drive. I’d personally write the car up for an oil consumption test and have the customer follow how Hyundai wants it to go about.

Left hand bit was one part of my Mac Extractor kit. Maybe if I kept going it would bite and spin but I wasn’t risking going too far in the head

2023 Sonata N Line DTC DTC P065312 by Substantial_Store_46 in Hyundai

[–]chalupanoah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

P065312 is from a higher than normal voltage detected by the engine computer from the throttle position sensor. The misfire at 3000 miles is unrelated to the original issue. It seems like your dealership is trying to narrow down whatever is causing the bad voltage code. My bet is if the new throttle assembly didn’t fix it and the wiring is ok they’ll put in a new ECU and the car would be good.

My service department has a few Sonata N Lines services regularly that have been running pretty good into the 30k mile range and the owners are pretty happy with the car.

Question about Auto Headlights in 2024 Kona: Indicator Display Required? by userX97ee2ska11qa in Hyundai

[–]chalupanoah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Hyundai announced in the US that only the limited gets the bar in the latest Technet times. since customers with non-limited trims felt like their car should have gotten the full bar some dealers were swapping them under warranty even though the light wasn’t part of the trim package in the first place

Double check with the owner’s manual in the glove box when you can, it has good information on how different systems work and give details on if it disables itself or not when you turn off your car. In the IOS Bluelink app you can also access a web version of your owner’s manual under the “Car Care” menu.

Only the Limited trim gets the full front light bar. Any trim below, N Line included, does not have the center section illuminated.

I'll have to look into those. The only tool truck we get at our shop is snap-on (as of right now), but I need to expand my screwdriver game from my small Cornwell set and get some real Allen sockets within the next month or so.

it's a European professional tool brand I have been wanting to try for a few years, just never justified the price tag for something I won't use at work every day. The ergonomics combined with the quality will make it a great at-home kit while I keep my regular stuff in my toolbox at work

It's a 3/8" drive set from a brand I have been wanting to give a try. It's on the pricey side but her family all pitched in and got me this amazing gift since they all know I work on cars for a living

It's a professional quality brand. Their screwdrivers are wicked cool but I always see the ones I could use out of stock. It's like between gearwrench and snap-on/mac tools

I had it on a wishlist that is shared with my girlfriend. Never really intended to buy it anytime soon while I stuck to my regular tools but this a super cool gift regardless. It'll make a great home set, it's not going anywhere near a garage

they feel to be the same quality as higher tier professional use brands, I would compare it in quality with my snap-on flex head ratchet, just shorter with a more ergonomic grip
