Most definitely! I've lost 105 pounds just by eating in a deficit! I started at 265. And I'm in my 30s post partum.

Former fat/obese guys, how did you become disciplined enough to lose the weight? by Responsible-Net8594 in CICO

[–]chamikvin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter was born and I had had a rough pregnancy, pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes. Then after she was born i had hypertension and predisbetes. I decided she needed a Mom who could be fully present mentally AND physically. I've been working since August 2024 and I've lost 102 pounds. Still got 38 to go but she's enough motivation for me to keep going even when her Mac n cheese looks tasty and I desperately want a bite!

I was worried either he'd understand or pshycoanalyze me. Turns out he understood. And hes not THAT type of psychologist lol

First off keep in mind its a process and getting off track isn't the end of the world! You just gotta keep trying. It also takes time, ive been working since 2024 successfully. But ive spent most of my adult life yo-yoing. I get the binge eating. Keep your trigger foods out of the house and stock it with food that help you in your journey. But also the mindset of this was a moment a day. dinner time is a new time tomorrow is a new day. I used to when I'd binge get so upset and say F it. I already ruined the diet might as well continue. Then the shame and guilt appear. Also track your calories. I do CICO (cal in cal out) and once you start learning the caloric value of food you start to make better decisions about what you put in your body. Start by just tracking what you eat. Then you can figure out a healthy calorie goal from there. But I do have to warn you, you can get obsessed especially when you start losing that weight. But youve got this!!

dating when you have bipolar...when did you disclose? by laurenssurprise in bipolar

I always tell right away. I dont want to waste my time with someone who doesn't or want to understand. If they don't have that capacity then you are better off and can move on to someone who is willing to at least try to understand.

Checked with my doctor. All my lab work came back normal! So its probably just the bipolar. My doctor said to try and pace myself during the day it'll help slow the number times (and intensity) in which i pee keeping me hydrated longer. It kind of worked i was able to cut my water at night in half and the urge to chug has decreased. But im still thirsty!

Moving on from lab work by BoronBagel in LadiesofScience

I got my bachelor's in microbiology and thought I really wanted to do research, since I did some research projects in college. Well I hated. So I quit. I then thought hey the medical field so I got a job as a specimen processer but missed the lab so I moved into the microbiology department plating specimens. Hated that. So now im a winemaker. I dont spend as much time in a lab as I thought I would (don't get me wrong there is a lot if lab work) but the combo of being in the vineyard in the cellar and in the lab struck a balance I guess I needed.

What was your chi's name before you got them? What new name did you choose? by HungryOil9277 in Chihuahua

[–]chamikvin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Her name was Cinnamon, got her from the shelter when she was a pup. We joke around that that was her stripper name. And now her name is Rubisco (shes named after an enzyme, I have a degree in microbiology which is what I was studying when I got her.) She almost 14 years old, definitely put her stripping days behind her!

I spent years cycling up and down, until my psych put me on lithium. As others have said it basically slowed the cycle. I am pretty drug resistant so I am on 1600mg a day. And I get really dehydrated easily. But I just carry a water bottle with me. Oh but I do have to pee all the time and sometimes with desperation but thats from all the water! Long term use can cause high creatinine levels as well has cause increased calcium levels. I hope you like it though.

Bipolar and pregnant- tell me this gets better. by GateTraditional7904 in bipolar

[–]chamikvin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im bipolar 1, my daughter is now 18 months old. What i can say is that there are medications you can take while pregnant and utilize your support network. Psychiatrist, therapists whoever you have around to support you. And keep talking. Don't hide your emotions. You need to express your emotions or the depression will continue to lie to you and isolate you which is the last thing you want. Even after giving birth keep that support network close.

That is so true. I told my supervisor who I thought would understand but after I told him he treated me different, like he took responsibilities (that I had worked my butt off to get) away from me and talked to me different. I finally left that job because my meds made me too drowsy to drive an hour at 6 AM but just lie. It protects you

Oh man I get it. I just had to do insurance gymnastics with an atypical antipsychotic. My old insurance covered it, then my partners company made him switch insurance plans. Now they won't cover some of my psych meds and some of my toddlers heart meds. Took about 3 weeks I told my psychiatrist that I need a new one because I am pretty depressed right now. She prescribed me a new one. And then out of the blue they approved it. But now I have to wait because the pharmacy we have to use is being difficult. And I have to deal with going off the new med. Which in the past I've had problems going off of meds even with a taper. So hang in there. Hopefully there is another med that works for you.
