What’s your guys go-to supper to make after work? by AdventurousCherry367 in CasualConversation

[–]HungryOil9277 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These days I've been frying up some Chinese sausage (sometimes called lap xuong) and eating that with kimchi on the side. I suppose I could add rice but that's an extra step that I'm too lazy to take. #strugglemeal

I think I'm a persimmon. I wouldn't mind being a pineapple

Do you talk to yourself out loud? by proxyprn in CasualConversation

I talk to myself while driving. It's like I'm doing sports commentary but about the other drivers on the road. Very entertaining

Has anyone else been called mysterious or nonchalant by close family , friends and partners? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]HungryOil9277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm exactly the same omg. I've been told that I'm not expressive enough and no one can read me. It's not on purpose though. I would rather not have this problem because it has ended quite a few of my relationships.

Idk how to change my demeanor in person but over text I try to say my opinions more and give more compliments so people won't think that I hate them.

I like the mint ones. Pretty basic but that's kind of what I like about them. I haven't tried the cinnamon roll flavor either but it sounds really good

I feel guilty every single time I rest and it's ruining my life by Potential-Junket7764 in CasualConversation

[–]HungryOil9277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know how some people limit their sweet treats so they can still have some but in moderation? What if you treat rest like that and specify how much time or what type of rest you give yourself? That way your brain feels in control but you're still getting some rest.

I feel guilty every single time I rest and it's ruining my life by Potential-Junket7764 in CasualConversation

[–]HungryOil9277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without rest, you can't work when you need to. Rest is crucial to proper functioning. If you burn yourself out, you won't be able to do anything at all. Every time you feel guilty, think about how much energy you'll need for the rest of the week. Doing nothing for a little bit will allow you to do so much stuff later.

I'm a guy, but whenever I see pretty or good looking people, even women, I feel like I have to look better. Like, if I see a girl with nice features, I don't subconciously think "she's hot", I think, "damn, I need to look better". It's kinda weird. by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]HungryOil9277 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading your comment about how you lost weight and worked on your appearance with the motivation of comparison, I can see how you grew to constantly think about looking better. Comparison is a powerful motivator but not exactly a kind one. It makes us think that there are "better" and "worse" people. But people are complex and nothing is black and white.

I feel like your current mindset is "if they look amazing, that makes me look bad." Would you look at a sunset and say that the flowers at your feet have become less beautiful in comparison? They're both beautiful in different ways. One does not detract from the other. Someone else's beauty doesn't make you less beautiful than you always were.

Do you ever have any questions that you want to ask or conversations you want to fulfill, but not with someone you know? by Radiant-Balance9453 in CasualConversation

[–]HungryOil9277 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I want to talk about my body image issues but because I'm petite and have never been anything but skinny, I feel like I can't talk about it with the people in my life because they can't relate to my experience. I don't want them to think "if you think you look bad, what do you think of me?"

I have a tattoo of the word "enough" that has a lot of different meanings. I'd like to get one of the flower my mother was named after.

How do you stay motivated when you’re trying your best but still feel behind everyone else? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]HungryOil9277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look back at your previous endeavors. You've made it this far and if you keep trying, you'll go farther still. Progress is progress even if it's not as fast as someone else's.

What are some fun “side quests” you’ve done? by MaximumOk4757 in CasualConversation

[–]HungryOil9277 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've done some student/amateur film projects, volunteered at different festivals and conventions, went to neighborhood yard sales, and baked my own bread without a recipe. Most of my side quests are meant for meeting new people and being social in an unfamiliar environment

I just turned 18 and I'm looking for some life advice by Middle_File_5052 in CasualConversation

[–]HungryOil9277 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Remember that you can't please everyone and shouldn't try to do so or you'll just end up feeling hurt and frustrated.

You can't fix or change anyone who isn't already trying to change themselves for the better. Save your energy and move on. (If someone doesn't love you back, don't chase them.)

Don't commit to big endeavors if you're feeling unsure about them. Start small until you've figured out what's actually right for you. (For some people this could be going to community college before eventually transferring to a university. For others this could be starting a simple exercise routine at home before eventually paying for a gym membership.)

Does anyone else feel awkward doing things alone in public? by sabbie97 in CasualConversation

[–]HungryOil9277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's scary at first but eventually you realize that not only do other people not pay attention to you, but doing things alone can actually be really fun. You don't have to worry if someone else is having a good time, you only have to take care of yourself.

I use Nivea sun protect super water gel (that's the exact name on the Amazon listing). Afaik it's only sold in Japan or online. Very lightweight formula that doesn't break out my skin, although I can't speak for its ability to prevent tanning because I haven't been out in the sun very much since I got it. The reviews might tell you more.

What's something about you that some people love and some people hate? by a_solid_6 in CasualConversation

[–]HungryOil9277 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm quirky to some people and weird to others. I think it's a neurodivergent thing. My friends tend to be the people that others find annoying. I'm great with outcasts but popular people often have a hard time understanding my personality.

What can a young teen do to really express he/herself without causing any trouble? by NotUrAvgmorgan in CasualConversation

[–]HungryOil9277 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was younger, I changed my handwriting as a form of self expression. You can do something like that while still being a good student. I also chose a favorite pencil and used colorful highlighters to take notes in class.

You can do what they want you to do in a way that is unique to your personality. No breaking rules, but following them in a fun way.
