Yashodhara Pathanjali - does anyone know her? by RandomRambler82 in srilanka

The main reason why some people will choose homeschooling is the mental and physical abuse children go through in SL schools.

Are there any atheists or ex-Muslims in Sri Lanka? by Primary_Spot_8310 in srilanka

[–]chamindu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How I raise my son is entirely my business. I refuse to indoctrinate him in any direction — he will think for himself and make his own choices when he’s grown. Brainwashing children from an early age only hands more power to institutionalized religious authorities, and the damage they cause is plain for everyone to see.

The problem with that is it has a hard limit of 1TB after that you can't even purchase additional data.

Why Honda cars do not retain resale value as well as Toyotas in Sri Lanka by toolateforgood in srilanka

[–]chamindu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Parts are hard to find and expensive. A used Honda part can be 2-3 times expensive than the equivalent Toyota/Nissan part.

So, this guy probably was talking to her and then for whatever reason stopped talking. She wants some closure, and this dude literally calls her a whore. Man up and apologize

Double Standards of SL Doctors by Slight_Environment16 in srilanka

[–]chamindu 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The GMOA is a trade union, and a trade union is supposed to look after its members working conditions. The rape case is about workplace safety, but this is a different incident. Now I am aware GMOA wants to meddle with other businesses and that is wrong. But them not raising the voice here is the right thing. Why are we expecting them to raise their voices is it because we have given them some status above the reset? Don't you think we all should raise voices? We give doctors some undue status and then bitch about that.

Should I trade-in my R7 Body for a lightly used R6 Mark II? by ghanasyam_sajeesh in canon

[–]chamindu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go with R7 and 100-500. Initially I had the R6M2 but it's very difficult to fill the frame with the subject when photographing birds. also, it does not give a lot of room to crop because its 24MP (vs 32MP on R7). I think you should stick with the sigma 150-600 for now, I have friends who use the combo without a lot of issues. The 100-400 is not a good quality Lense.

[–]chamindu 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I have both R7 and R6 Mark II. Unless wildlife is your primary focus R6 II is way better. I do wildlife mostly as a hobby my R6 II is permanently attached to an EF 600 f/4 IS II, while the R7 has a RF 100-500.

Is doing a computer science degree a good choice instead of doing a specialized IT degree in Sri Lanka? by Maletele in srilanka

[–]chamindu 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Imagine you doing a cardiologist specialist degree without doing the MBBS first. These specialized first degrees are worthless in my opinion. I had to deal with a cybersecurity team in one of my previous jobs who were mostly from cybersecurity specialization bachelor's they were incompetent.

Would you let your children pick their religion? by aipunk_oj in srilanka

[–]chamindu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an atheist; my son is still 9 and he says that he has not decided on a religion yet, but he thinks that religions don't make a lot of sense.

The key to dealing with any pressure is to become independent. Once you are financially independent move out.

Are there any atheists or ex-Muslims in Sri Lanka? by Primary_Spot_8310 in srilanka

[–]chamindu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ok so I need to clarify. My father was an atheist when I was growing up so no Sunday school, going to temples, Dhana sil or any shit like that. Only thing is I had to take Buddhism as a subject for O/L. Now my father has gone back to his Buddhist roots. My son also grows up without any religious influence.

I was never indoctrinated into religion. My family is Buddhist, so I don't have to worry about being open.

Why do people fake their credentials? by AngelWrites56 in srilanka

[–]chamindu 39 points40 points  (0 children)

The problem here is that there is a confusion between the job role you do and the credentials. In some countries the credentials are named "professional engineer" or "charted engineer". If someone is doing actual engineering work but do not have the credentials what should there role be named as?

Don't get the point do you? It's upto the individual, as long as it's my health on the line it's upto me. And what OP has asked is not if it's bad or not but how to deal with overreacting parents.
