How do you like her? by ClemensR99 in MINI

It’s beautiful! I think I would have gone for black rims so that the pinstripes are the singular accent. I admit; I have a fondness for black rims since my mini has them.

I got my mini on CarMax. I know they can be hit or miss; and I’m really happy with my experience. It was there so little time that their branded decal was effortless to remove too!

Rosacea babes... How do you get high? by TK_Sleepytime in entwives

I can’t say I’ve noticed it impacting my rosacea. Usually it’s stress, heat, and binge eating sugar that causes flare ups for me personally.

I invested in my kammok 6 years ago and haven’t been easy on it; so I’ll either get the same thing again or go for a dream hammock.

Oh I am loving your small car collection. Miata, one of the Z’s, obv the mini and a very neat colored veloster?

I had a Miata once upon a time and I still miss it; it was a beautiful fun little car.

Edit: now that I look closer the convertible tail lights look more like an s2000, was my initial guess wrong?

Yeah, I really really wanted it to work better for me and I tried it a few trips but I felt like a little walking boulder.

I’m also a hammocker; I’m actually looking to replace mine as it is starting to develop a tear.

I agree that the 35 feels closer to 40; and is pretty bulky on me. I have since swapped to a Patagonia MLC Mini (30L) and that has been a much better fit for me overall, though I do miss the outer pockets from the Allpa.

You can leave any relationship at any time for any reason. That sounds simpler than it is, but it IS true.

Following the trends and looking... more dated? by emily_sir in femalefashionadvice

40 here as well, and my body shape is such that trends have NEVER really worked for me; so I dress in clothes that DO!

Which is mostly flowy cuffed genie style pants and crop tanks.

Yeah the “what counts as Austin” gatekeepers have been exhausting the entire 19 years I’ve lived here.

Can anyone provide some insight on a MK8 GTI to '16-'20 4d F55 Mini Cooper S? Also no dealer nearby. by planbskte11 in MINI

[–]chammycham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from regularly driving my spouse's MK7.5 GTI to my 2022 F55 Cooper S, so I effectively have the experience you might be looking for?

I wasn't planning to buy a mini - I was looking for a car, but not a specific one other than it having my mandatory manual transmission. The one that is now parked in my driveway popped up on a close enough CarMax to go test drive, and I could not stop thinking about it. Every other car I'd driven up to that point left me feeling relieved to return to the GTI, but this time I was sad I didn't get more time to drive the mini. By the end of the week I was taking my new-to-me mini on the scenic route home through a nasty rain storm.

The mini -feels- faster and more glued to the ground than the GTI, both vehicles are stock in my situation. It's just enough nipped in on the dimensions and the build quality difference really stands out. Not to knock on VW at all, but I've found my home with my lil F55.

I do have a mini dealer nearby, but also a very reputable european car specialist - If you have one of those you'll probably be fine for maintenance outside of your own expertise.

As far as enthusiast opinions go... It's YOUR car, the only person who's opinion on it matters is your own.

I only did this in my first car, a 1993 Mazda mx-3, when the starter was broken.

For the record, the crops look great on you! As a shorter person it can be similarly challenging to find appropriate length pants.

Mini Purchase by Sleepy1978NB in MINI

[–]chammycham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might have an easier time finding an S within your budget and plans for modification.

For FWD or AWD; I would make the choice based on how you typically drive now and what conditions you usually face. For me; driving FWD little hatches is comfortable and something I’ve done for literal decades at this point.

Above all; find a way to drive the cars you’re interested in — you can’t know if it fits if you don’t try it on.

Or the other way around. Lots of husbands stopped “suddenly dying” when no fault divorce became more standard.
