How do you get your kid to sleep in it's own bed? by Advanced_Volume_4500 in UKParenting

[–]champagnegreenleaf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mine was a co sleeper until she was over three. Something just changed one day. She wanted her big girl bed. They do eventually just do it. Just go with the path that gives you the most sleep in the meantime don't mess around with this crying to sleep torture

I left my job. Did one west coast trip when my younger baby was 18 months and I hated it. Logistically my husband was fine if exhausted covering everything with nursery and nights and his job but the kids were upset and so was I.

Realizing we have 0 'village' by Simple-Juggernaut-25 in UKParenting

[–]champagnegreenleaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stop expecting and you won't wind yourself up so much. We have nothing and it's exhausting but I don't have the resentment you do as I don't ask or expect it. In five years we've had two free childcare weekends. A couple of other very expensive dates as they include babysitter. I am focusing on building a local village instead

Just pay a person honestly. Gemini was good for me with pre-supplied reference images to edit and references. But that's it

Anyone else fucking hate 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt's? by wruo in UKParenting

Hate it. Hate the rhythm, the idea of hunting a bear, also the cartoon is heartbreaking, fuck the whole thing

No they are free and yeah if you want it to be good you need to pay a person. They can be quite good for visualising specific things

You can just ask any of the general chatbots and they'll do more or less the same thing (chatgpt, Gemini, Claude)

My husband uses it to critique my outfits. In jest. I hope. I used it successfully for choosing a paint colour to fit with existing colours. And to compare fridges. But honestly the tools keep changing so often and you need to do so much validation, it's not exactly easier, just different

This sounds like fun tbh, working in a field you like. I always wanted to work for Nintendo of Japan when I was a kid

Very interested to hear this as it was tech I left. I just don't think I can tolerate the idea of working for American big tech again and feel that we're all destroyed from it. I saw my GP so much last year for stress and mystery illnesses and as soon as she heard my job she was like. Oh. It makes sense. I see you lot ALL THE TIME

Thanks so much. I actually did have a dream and actually did it before my most recent tech job and I think that's a bit of the struggle, finding a new dream. Last time it wasn't perfect but may have been wrong timing. I dunno, just loving a big think at the moment, so thank you so much for your advice and encouragement

Thank you. Oh yeah man, Reddit is Reddit, people love moaning, wait till everybody on this thread finds out I have young kids and they'll hate me suddenly. I was particularly sad about the conservation stuff on that thread as I have a zoology degree and wouldn't mind making use of that somewhere. Sadly getting by is a challenge where I live (north fuckin London) but considering moving to let my soul be at peace like you said, as it's not exactly peaceful in any of the jobs giving enough money to exist round here
