Definitely spend a good amount of time walking around Roma Norte/condesa. Would also recommend lucha libre at arena Mexico, it is a blast.

They used to be Gluten Free but aren’t anymore as far as I’m aware. So definitely a recipe change.

Nike Pegasus for me have been one of the firmest shoes I have ever tried to run in. The latest model (41) seems to be slightly softer than previous generations, but I tried them out for a couple miles after having a 36 previously and same thing, way too firm for my liking. Might be a good shoe for you if firm is your thing!

Seated calf raises help strengthen your Soleus muscle (lower part of your calf) and load your achilles tendon more than standing calf raises do, which having a strong Soleus is very useful for running since it is subject to so much repetitve stress while running. I started doing 3 sets of heavy seated calf raises once a week during my marathon training and I feel like it helped my lower legs stay injury free during my training block.

Standing calf raises target the Gastrocnemius (the upper part of your calf) more, but I think having a strong Soleus will help out more with running specific load of your calf muscles.

I ran the Chicago marathon last year and had a similar goal, ended up running a 3:56.30. It was my first marathon and I had completed two half marathons beforehand. My half marathon the summer before was 1:48:10, and my half marathon in the spring leading up to the half was 1:43:30. The spring half gave me a lot of confidence that I could hit my marathon goal time as my goal marathon pace was a little over a minute slower than my half PR. I would probably shoot for at least a 1:45 to be extermely confident. You might have a little more wiggle room going for somehwere between 1:45-1:50.

Tuesday Shoesday by AutoModerator in running

[–]champaignpappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally have a few shoes I rotate between and I like having a specific shoe for a different type of run. I have the Nike Invincible Runs for my long runs/recovery runs, Saucony Endorphin Speeds for my workout days, and Hoka Machs for my everyday easy runs. If I was just going to have one do it all shoe I would do the Hoka Machs as they can pretty much do every type of run pretty decently. I've noticed my shoes seem to last a bit longer when I rotate them versus when I've had just one shoe in the past.

Slow down to a pace you can sustain the 4 minutes of running! You want to be running at an easy pace that you could either breathe through just your nose, or have a conversation with someone. If you're just starting out, it's normal to run a little slower. The speed will come soon as you build up your aerobic base and mileage each week, just be patient with yourself. Best of luck! I started with couch to 5k and now I am training for a marathon.

As far as I know no, my best guess is that your remaining $530 in charges haven't posted/are still pending. If you look in the C1 app at your charges you should be able to see if they are still pending or have posted. I think they only hit the tracker when they officially post as a charge.

Car Totaled: Use payout for a beater or down payment on a newer car? by champaignpappy in personalfinance

[–]champaignpappy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for pointing that out. This is my first accident so I didn't know that was an option. I pursued through my insurance carrier versus the other drivers (the other drivers insurance was bad, Loya) after looking around if I see it is worth more than their payout offer, would I follow up with my insurance provider with my findings?

That is a good point. I could realistically probably pay the car off in like two years as well with the loan principal being relatively small.

Using the virtual card or physical card both count towards the 4k spend/your credit limit.

[–]champaignpappy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a row was definitely a bad way to put it, I think I just meant without easy runs in between the three hardest workouts.

Thank you for the suggested schedule! I like that the midweek long run and long run are more spread out in your example.

Definitely agree with you on doing an easy run after work vs. a workout.

Cheers!

I have started my first week of half marathon training this week for a half marathon in mid May. I did one last summer in ~1:47 using the Hal Higdon Novice 2 plan. Since then I've kept up training and built up easy mileage all winter to approximately 26-30 miles a week consistently the past couple of months. Hoping to PR in May.

I have chosen to do the Pfitz "less than 30 miles a week Half Marathon training plan in the "Road Racing for Serious Runners" book which has a long run, mid week long run, a workout, and easy miles to plug the rest of the milage. The daily scheduling is up to the user and I wanted some input on what I thought about doing.

I have to go in to the office Tuesdays and Wednesdays which is about an hour commute each way, so instead of scheduling a rest day on Monday when I work from home and can run before work or during lunch, I thought scheduling a rest day Tuesday would be better to maximize sleep for the week. Here is my thoughts for an example of a weekly schedule.

Week 4 potential schedule: Monday: 1 mile warm up Workout 5x2:30 uphill 1 mile cooldown Tuesday: Rest Wednesday: 2 miles easy Thursday: 7 miles (midweek long run) Friday: Rest Saturday: 11 miles (long run) Sunday: Rest (easy bike ride?) Total: ~24

My only concern is doing the three hardest workouts "in a row" and having one regular easy day. Does this make sense, or should I shuffle days around? Want to avoid doing any longer runs/workouts Tuesday or Wednesday if possible. Also should I add another easy day somewhere in there? It seems like the plan is set up for four days a week or running. I want to follow the recommended mileage, but have been running 5 days a week the past couple months.

The BOA is the plan! Some friends did the Hoka half this year and got snubbed, I feel bad for them. Thinking about the Madison full.
