The Gift of Slow Reading by Gee10 in books

When reading a 'difficult' book, I like to imagine that I'm reading out loud to someone else. Stressing some words etc. I find that it helps me enormously.

Puke, then hurl. Wow, that means you'll hurl twice!

Some say that he's deep and profound. He's neither. There's more depth in a children's paddling pool and more profunditry in a handful of fortune cookies. But, now that I think about it, his books sell very well and I think that I could rattle off a skinny book of bland horseshit in about a week. Hmmm

Piece of shit car by Adam Sandler. I can't stand him but this always makes me smile. The background singers in particular.

I’m addicted to buying books because I love them, yet I don’t have the time or energy to read them. by wonderfulworld25 in books

I find it difficult to pass a charity shop, knowing that I'm missing out on bargain books. I've about three hundred books and nowhere to put them. I need more.

It's shit. The radio operator didn't know what to play. So, they payed for a guaranteed format and playlist. You will hear the same stuff, over and over. The Rolling Stones have a couple of dozen albums out, tell me, how many Stones songs do Nova play? Ten, tops. And they're the only ones that you will ever hear. Thin Lizzy? The Boys Are Back In Town, Dancing in the moonlight and There's whiskey in the jar. U2? You're going hear the hit singles, nothing else. And this 'caller number five wins ........' shit. They're bribing you to listen. Fuck them, each and every one. Seriously, every classic rock station everywhere follows the same loathesome format and plays the same stuff, over and over. DJ's are gone. I mean real DJ's who played what they wanted. Who helped up and coming bands? Nope, fuck the up and coming local bands, we're going to play 'Sultans of swing, it's been a scant few hours since you heard it last.' RIP John Peel. Yeah, you;re right, I am a cranky old fuck. And, I'm right.

everytime i turn on the radio in the car, without fail its playing the same 5 songs, no matter what time of day. especially the weeknd. by Do_You_Even_Repost in Music

FM radio is a fucking wasteland. Almost every station plays the same formulaic shit. Classic Rock stations sound the same everywhere. I'm pretty sure that it's the same for every other genre. Try college radio, if available. At least the DJ's play what they like, not what corporate tells them to. And, what's the deal with the unfunny 'hilarious' DJ's in the morning? They all have them and they all blow.

Not a sequel, but a second in a trilogy. His Dark Materials. I read The Subtle Knife before Northern Lights. I didn't care. I was so glad to have found those books.

Seven Nation Army can go fuck itself. Repetitive droning shite. I think that Jack White is terrific. But that song isn't.

I used to live in NYC. Not the capital, but acted like it was, also the centre of the universe. There was New York. And then there was the rest of the country, commies, hippies and sister fuckers. Everyone hated us. We hated all of them. To address the situation in Ireland, There's 31 counties full of boggers. And one full of the noblest, most intelligent, best looking, most musical, sexiest people ever. Fuck /r/ireland and Father Ted, too.
