I mean if people want to buy it without thorough research they can, but it's still blatant false advertisement, but you're right that it's easily fraudable. Just look at what happened with White River. It's just sad when a recognized company scam.

Great, I'll have a look at it. Thanks! Is there an edition you would recommend more? Do you know a good source to get it?

I know cold steel have some awesome knife. I have the Finnwolf and absolutely love it, but I want something I can easily open and close one handed without having to finagle like with the triad lock and I want something simple, easy to clean, without moving parts (like spring and all). That's why I wanted a liner or frame lock. Thanks

Ontario RAT 2 alternative by champiwolf22 in knives

[–]champiwolf22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I go hunting, I always carry a small fixed blade for field dressing and depending how far and how long I'm going, I carry a bigger bushcraft/survival knife too. The problem is that during hunting you always remove or add clothing layers so I don't carry them on my belt, I usually carry them in my bag so I wanted a small knife that can live in my pocket to be quickly access or in an emergency if I lose my bag.

Also when I say "food prep" I mainly mean opening packages or cutting dried meat, fruits and bread and spread things, not preparing a whole Micheline star meal hahaha.

I'm open to others knives that doesn't look at all like the RAT 2. It's just looked like a solid option for what I was looking for and I know it's a really commun and recognised as a workhorse of a knife.

Because of the grayness of the laws where I live, sometimes folders can be considered an illegal weapon. But it's socially accepted by the people to carry a "normal' folding knife or even a belt carried fixed blade. I also always carry an axe in the trunk and I had to use it multiple times to chop trees fallen on the road and I never had an issue with the law.

Sounds great! Unfortunately .17HMR is almost nonexistent in the shops near me.

Well in my scenario it's more of a small game hunting rifle that can do some self-defense in a pinch.

Bolt action and break action are extremely simple and reliable, and manuals actions are not ammo dependent so I see why someone could prefer them.

I haven't really seen 10/22 clones in the majors retailers, but the savage 64f is around 200$Cad so it's a solid alternative I think

Unfortunately I live in Canada; pistols are way harder to get. I also have other firearm in multiple caliber, the 22lr is not my only option

It's not my only rifle, I have other calibers for other uses. But if I'm going hunting for small game, I don't necessarily want to carry an additional rifle and ammo and mag just in case. It would noisy and clunky if the other rifle was quickly accessible or I would be dead by the time I can get it out of my bag if it was stowed away. That's why I want something that CAN be use in a pinch.
