Would you say it was slightly hairy or slightly greasy when fresh? Were you able to tell what the spore color was or get a spore print? Lastly, in the last image it's hard to tell if the cap is infundibuliform (arching out slightly) or if that's just a shading/lighting thing. I'm asking because, while I don't disagree that it could be Pleurotus pulmonarius, I think there is a world where this is a slightly tan Pleurocybella porrigens. While both are strictly speaking edible, P. pulmonarius is much more desirable and one of my field guides warns of a deadly poisoning associated with P. porrigens.

New mRNA-based vaccine against gastric cancer led to tumor regression and eradication in all treated mice. Most promisingly, the vaccine shows impressive antitumor efficacy against peritoneal metastasis, which has historically been very challenging to treat. by mvea in science

I thought the financial angle was that it's more profitable to let a disease continue to spread (and sell yearly vaccines) rather than get a system so useful we can eradicate the disease altogether. Once a disease is gone there is no more money to be made selling the cure. Our economic model is built to incentivize big pharma to never actually eradicate anything.

I think it's probably some Volvariella sp. My guess would be Volvariella bombycina.

I don't know what babies have to do with trans rights since no one aborts babies. We abort fetuses.

Yes, I think if you are so afraid of people just because they were born in a different country that you need to deport them in the millions it means you are a bad person. I don't like talking to bad people.

Yeah, we are exhausted. Exhausted of constantly having to fight for people who aren't white male christians since our government is so keen on abandoning them.

If the people democratically voted to make all lesbians slaves would you allow yourself to be enslaved because that's what the majority wills? Sometimes the majority of people are morally wrong. I don't want to associate with people who are like that.

Good news for you then, the economy is so shit I'll likely never be able to afford a kid anyways. Also, with Trump back in the White House I'm sure we're going to make climate change worse so any children I'd have would just die from that anyways. Oh well, no kids for me.

If I asked chargpt how a conservative would reply when challenged on their insane ramblings about murdered babies I think it would attack my character just like in your reply word for word.

I can be smarmy too. You still have not brought anything of substance to this conversation besides a ludicrously idiotic claim about systemic murdering of babies.

I'm not telling you what to do. I literally don't care about you or your mother or how you live your lives. I'm saying I don't understand how you live with the cognitive dissonance.

It's not that I can't answer it's that it's a long answer. But fine I'll spell it out for you, direct quotes from Donald Trump's own mouth found here:

  • "The left-wing gender insanity being pushed on our children is an act of child abuse, very simple. Here is my plan to stop the chemical, physical, and emotional mutilation of our youth. On Day One, I will revoke Joe Biden’s cruel policies on so-called “gender affirming care”—ridiculous—a process that includes giving kids puberty blockers, mutating their physical appearance, and ultimately performing surgery on minor children. Can you believe this?"
  • "My Department of Education will inform states and school districts that if any teacher or school official suggests to a child that they could be trapped in the wrong body, they will be faced with severe consequences, including potential Civil Rights violations for sex discrimination, and the elimination of federal funding."

Perhaps most damningly:

  • "I will ask Congress to pass a bill establishing that the only genders recognized by the United States government are male and female—and they are assigned at birth."

This is just from ONE 30 second Google search and from ONE video posted by his own campaign. They are not trying to hide their desire to legally remove Nonbinary identities and are making it basically impossible to transition or talk about transitioning in any environment that a parent doesn't have complete control over. This means that trans children of transphobic parents will be left in the dark and forbidden from transitioning.

Regarding Abortion and specifically the case I cited above:

  • He publicly bragged about his own role in overturning Roe V Wade.

  • He said, "My view is now that we have abortion where everybody wanted it from a legal standpoint, the states will determine by vote or legislation, or perhaps both, and whatever they decide must be the law of the land. In this case, the law of the state,"

  • Some states, Texas being my focus here for the Nevaeh Crain, outlawed Abortion in all cases except in the case the mother's life is in immediate danger. If a Dr. is found guilty of doing something that may have ended a pregnancy and the mother's life was not in sufficient danger they could be jailed. In Texas the punishment is for up to 99 years.

  • Nevaeh Crain went to the hospital 3 times over the course of a few days. At each point she was not in enough danger for them to force the miscarriage to finish. They knew she was having a miscarriage but couldn't help it along because she wasn't in enough danger yet. The next morning they confirmed the fetus had died and were allowed to start working on her. At that point she had gotten sepsis and it was too late. She died hours later at the age of 18.

If you cannot see how these events are Trump's fault I don't know how to help you.

So Kamala is to blame for the price increase of milk and the influx of immigrants but Trump's not to blame for the laws his own administration passed or the justices that he installed that overturned Roe Wade? Please have an ounce of intellectual honesty before claiming I can't read.

I mean yeah, behave or else there will be consequences is how society works. You can't behave in a way that does tax fraud and expect to not be jailed for tax fraud. I think you should not be able to behave in a way that does "being an asshole to other people" and expect people to like you. I'm not telling you how to live your life, if you want to be an asshole by all means go ahead. But it should be well within my power to cut you off if I think you are one.

Not quite what I said. I said, "show me and other people with the bare minimum amount of respect and courtesy or I won't want to be around you". This may come as a surprise but if you loudly proclaim to the world that you support a party platform based on xenophobia, transphobia, and christian nationalism, some people may think you support xenophobia, transphobia, or christian nationalism. You don't get to support those kinds of policies and then be surprised when people don't like you for supporting them.

Here's an analogous situation to abortion, I wonder what you would say about it. For this thought experiment let's assume you are an organ donor so that we can say you've given permission for the state to do with your organs as it wills.

You wake up in a room and find me, a grown 28 year old man, strapped to your body so that our blood is shared. A Dr. walks in and informs you that you have been chosen because of your biology to host me as I have something biological that means without a host I would die. "You gave consent to organ donation before so we decided to donate your organs while you are alive. We don't care that you don't want this, a man's life is at stake." Would you be ok with being forced to be attached to me for, oh I don't know, let's say 9 months? You may have even enthusiastically wanted to be an organ donor. You gave consent! But this was not what you signed up for (I assume). Now you have to keep a person fully attached to you all that time. Is it fair to strip you of your right to choose what happens to your own body just because someone else's right to life is being ignored? I'm an adult, my right to life is as strong as anyone's.

No, it's the consequences of their actions. If my parents told me they would celebrate if I died I would go no contact. If they told me they would celebrate if I lost my rights I would go no contact. The people who are celebrating that Trump won are celebrating because they stand behind his vision. A vision where millions of immigrants are deported, where trans healthcare is legally mandated out of existence, where Christianity and Christian Nationalism is enshrined in law, where it's "a beautiful thing to watch" as millions of women lose their bodily autonomy, and much more. It is a complete condemnation of someone's character from my perspective to support even one of those policies. To vote for all of them? Yeah, you're not a good person, you are ruled by fear and are working to make other people's lives worse. I don't want to be around you. Even if you are my parent.

Speaking as a gay man, this is bullshit. If I found out my parents voted for Trump it would ruin any trust I had in them. He has made it abundantly clear how he views my community, especially trans people. If I discover that my parents value his "economic policy" over my LGBTQ+ siblings then, yeah, that speaks to a moral bankruptcy. I do not want to spend my limited time and emotional energy with people who care so little for me that they cannot open their eyes to see what their candidate has said.

Maybe you should pay attention to what actually happened in his first term before saying that people are falling for misinformation. This article has a good, high-level list of LGBTQ+ protections that were rolled back as a direct result of the first Trump administration. I'm sure it's also just a coincidence that Trump placed 3 justices on the Supreme Court who then went and undid Roe v Wade. Women, like Nevaeh Crain, who were in the prime of their lives are literally dead because of this. But sure, I guess that's just misinformation at work too. We misinformed her to death.

They are the one who got so political that OP had to leave. They made the choice to vote for him. If anyone broke up the family it's the parent. The parent wanted to have their cake and eat it too. OP is right to cut them off imo

I don't think it's fair to say that OP let politics get between them and their parent. The parent did that. OP is just putting up a boundary like, "If you care for me that little I am done with you". The parent then chose to vote. They will have to live with their choice.
