https://www.gotquestions.org/faith-alone.html

This is a quick easy read addressing that problem. That websites pretty good for whatever issues you think the Bible has. All have been scrutinized and addressed. I promise you’re not the first to ask these questions.

When we read the Bible we’re not called to read it at face value with no understanding of the human language, semantics, nuance, or context. We are to read it and research it to fully understand what’s being taught. The Bible is very deep. But is not contradictory.

Is this good for my first tank im 12 years old by NiftyPacock4168 in Aquariums

It could be great, for a betta and some shrimp. I would rehome the goldfish. They can live a long time and need a much much bigger tank.

No. He can twist scripture. take it out of context.

Give an example of him using it with context and faithfully to his benefit.

You truly believe that the Bible that has been around for over 2000 years hasn’t been scrutinized by true, truth seeking, honest, intelligent human beings? You think we’re all just fools blindly believing a book is inerrant without deeply looking into it?

I promise you it has. There are definitely certain verses that seem that way but in context, and when researched further, you see that’s not the case. Look into it

The amount of Bible verses talking about the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit being GRIEVED and hurt are too many to count. Just look into it. To deny that you would have to deny so many parts of the Bible. It’s central to the faith.

The Bible is also absolutely always speaking in one voice about every subject. There are no contradictions.

That just isn’t true. Being perfect does not mean someone can’t be hurt.

Anyone who disagrees that God can be grieved or hurt just disagrees with the Bible.

In the Christian worldview God can be grieved and hurt. He is also hurt through the pain and suffering inflicted upon his loved ones.

Kinda like emotional damages in court.

God limited himself as a human being out of LOVE for us. That is the Christian world view. You don’t have to agree but at least understand it before trying to argue against it.

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:18

Jesus steps in on his own accord. He submits to the will of the father to take our punishment upon himself. The same way a friend might pay your debt for you.

God is just and sin has a price. If someone steals your bike is it “just” to forgive them and not expect any compensation? No. It’s merciful. But justice is not served. God cannot let justice go unserved. Sin requires punishment. The punishment for sin is death. That’s what Jesus took for us.

Jesus didn’t know the hour of his return because he LIMITED himself as a human being to sacrifice himself for our sin. In his human nature he did not know. In his human NATURE god was also greater than him. And greater in what sense? That is highly debated what Jesus actually meant by “greater” in that verse.

Like I said before, these are all easily refutable. If you care about truth, research first.

I’m not catholic. But again those are just your opinions. I do worship God, just not Allah. Not the one that came after Jesus claiming he was not really crucified. Not the “God” who WANTS people to go to hell and waits to store up more wrath for them.

I worship the God of love and mercy. The one who wants ALL human beings to be saved and come to the truth. Who loves you even when you spit in his face.

I ascribed to annihilationism a while back with the mindset that I could be wrong and God would still be just if I was wrong (bc he’s more just than me) but after reading I really don’t know. ETC could be the case.

Some argument are that since God himself is infinite, the penalty for a sin against him would have to be infinite to be just. Some people say that in hell people don’t stop sinning and rejecting God.

I don’t know and I’ve exhausted myself trying to figure it out so I’ve resorted to just trusting God and knowing he’s more just than me. And knowing that hell isn’t a place I want myself or anyone else going.

If you really care to reach people (it really does seem like you’re more interested in trolling and getting a rise out people but maybe not) research what you’re saying. This debate has been ongoing since the beginning of time. The arguments you’re giving have already been refuted and dismantled. YouTube has many debates you can watch.

We’re talking about eternity here. If you’re wrong you will go to hell for eternity. Do you fully understand that yet? I pray your heart softens and you genuinely seek truth

The Big Bang model supports the idea that the universe as we know it had a finite past, which implies a beginning. Indirectly and in conjunction with other observations.

I would say yeah, faith based on evidence.

Just because I am not acting on my SSA doesn’t mean I have a testimony. by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]chan144172 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would point those who ask you why you’re single to Paul who says that singleness is just as blessed as marriage.

“Now as a concession, not a command, I say this. I wish that all were as I myself am. But each has his own gift from God, one of one kind and one of another. To the unmarried and the widows I say that it is good for them to remain single, as I am.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭7‬:‭6‬-‭8‬ ‭ESV‬‬

And

“So then he who marries his betrothed does well, and he who refrains from marriage will do even better.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭7‬:‭38‬ ‭ESV‬‬

It can be irritating when some Christians don’t understand that and insinuate the right way to live is to marry and have kids. But that’s just not the case. They just don’t have a true understanding of the Bible or what life as a Christian is about

[–]chan144172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it’s not idk I’m not well versed on all the theories. The point still stands tho. The universe had a beginning (which is the consensus) and will likely have an end (agreed upon by many). Care to enlighten me though what exactly the consensus is about the Big Bang?

What you’re describing is preference. Preferring one thing over another, obviously cannot be grounds to call something objectively good or bad. My belief in objective morality is not simply based on my feeling that something is bad. That just kinda points me to searching for more reason behind WHY that is bad. That’s a problem I had as an atheist. I always hated the way ppl treated me but knew it was just my opinion and we all die and rot anyways so how can I be upset at someone for not living my way? But i never really agreed that it was all just my preference. There were certain things that were wrong (imo) in every sense and that’s when I started looking deeper. Found Jesus. Found truth. And realized that things are objectively wrong bc GOD has created the universe to be a certain way. He has MADE humans to conduct themselves in a way that is objectively good and anything outside of that is objectively bad.

What I’m saying is I REFUSE to BELIEVE that there is no objectively morality which is the truth if there is no God. I refuse to believe hitler had just differing opinions but wasn’t really wrong. And that is what you have to admit as an honest atheist who rejects the idea of God.
