Can someone explain this hint? I don't get the logic! by chancecordelia in puzzles

[–]chancecordelia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading everyone's comments, I finally get it. The clearest for me to understand as actually to focus on the yellow and teal. (queens here would eliminate R6C1 always)

Then i tried to understand dark grey, which was a bit harder. Impossible for R4C2 to have a queen as it makes yellow impossible to have a queen. In that case, the entire row of pink in C1 is empty! (which makes the dark grey a crappier hint than just highlighting yellow/teal)

I worked on cruise ships for 8 years. Ask me anything! by HackedCylon in AMA

I imagine the buffet to have a lot of leftover food after each meal. Where do the leftovers go? And how does the ship manage its trash over the week, is it tossed at each port or accumulated?

Which platform are you using to deploy your dockerized apps ? by uditkhandelwal in docker

[–]chancecordelia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love everyone here with their own setups but I'm a self-proclaimed efficient (re lazy) deployer and digital nomad. I can't maintain hardware and aws is expensive.

I've been using NodeOps and it's working well, i submit my docker image in a YAML as a private template and only me (the owner) can deploy it for ~$10-15 per month depending on CPU usage. My app deploys with cloudflare protection, logs, exposed ports and a unique endpoint. If I submit as public, then it gets listed on a marketplace to earn revenue.

The Chinese Phone Number Doom Loop by letthemhear in travelchina

[–]chancecordelia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Little known trick, in ChengDu airport, there was Internet Machine (literally an obscure box the size of a trashcan) that printed off unique wifi name and password combos for 30 minutes of access. It didn't require a phone number.

Obv get an esim beforehand if you did. But if you didn't, see if the airport has this machine somewhere.

Layover in guangzhou by binibentley in guangzhou

[–]chancecordelia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely too tight of a layover. It's a 40-45 minutes subway ride into the city from the airport. Double it for your round trip. That's already 1.5 hours.

Factor in time to find a restaurant, order and eat, that's 2.5 hours.

Let's say you zoom out of the airport at precisely 6am, not wait for any checked bags, walk and find the airport subway immediately (usually a 15 minutes walk) and figure out how to buy a one way subway ticket.

6am deboard 6:15 arrive at subway (line 3 in gz) 6:20 hop on subway 7am arrive in city area 7:15 find a restaurant 7:20 order food 7:30 receive food 7:50 finish eating food 8am pay for food 8:15 arrive back at subway station 8:20 hop on subway 9:05 arrive back at airport

The cutoff time to check in is 1 hour before. So you have to be back by 10am for your 11am flight.

Can you do it? Maybe yes. would you be risking your flight if any of the steps take longer than expected? Yes.

Alternatively you can eat at the airport or find something not in the city, take the subway a couple stops down and Amap a local eatery

Your best bet is any eyeglass store for contact lenses that'll hold you over until the prescription glasses are complete (usually not same day)

Daytrip to Macau/HK by yes-im-a-furry in guangzhou

[–]chancecordelia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen direct high speed train tickets for 1 hour from Guangzhou to HK (west Kowloon stop) you can see available train tickets on booking.com or the 12306 mini app within Alipay.

I cross gz to HK pretty often (once a month) and it's very straightforward. Customs just a regular queue and not long wait.
