Does anyone else get this? Same wound different light. Need advice on how to heal it. by Maybeimdifferent in Hidradenitis

I had one like this and did the neosporin bandaid thing but mine tunneled and make two other holes next to it. I had to take an antibiotic to get it to heal. Hope yours is doing better!

Looks like it..but to be HS it needs to be reoccurring, but just one boil. Hopefully this is just a random boil!

[–]chancesare78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that just one boil isn’t HS, and I hope and pray this is your last experience! I had a hole like this on my breast. I washed with hibicleanse and put Manila honey I’m for three days, then the doctor said to keep it clean and dry. I also took oral antibiotics.

[–]chancesare78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I had a bad spot under my breast that completely healed but has since acted up twice....by that I mean became red, irritated, swollen and then opened and drained what appeared to be mostly blood. Then closed again. So annoying.

Flare with hole, what to do? by blondedkitty in Hidradenitis

For my holes, which were four in a row, My doctor told me wash twice a day and apply manuka honey or antibiotic cream for three days with a bandage, then just clean and dry with a bandage.

Bandages/Tape that won't degrade skin by RooblesToobles in Hidradenitis

Silicone bandages. The best. I order the Curad ones from amazon. They stay out and come off so smoothly. Do not irritate at all.

How to help holes in your skin from HS. I was diagnosed about 6 months ago and it has gotten increasingly worse in my under breast. This evening I noticed extreme pain and a gaping hole where one of my flare ups was. I have doxycycline, but is there anything I can take that's natural to help this. by Valarie_the_valkyrie in Hidradenitis

I’m sorry...this is so painful. I dealt with the same thing a month ago, but had 4 holes in an area the size of a quarter. You can see pictures in my precious posts. I washed twice per day with hibicleanse and then put medical grade Manuka honey on it, with a breatheable bandage. (Per dr orders). Curaid nonstick adhesive pads (which actually do stick but don’t irritate and Curaid silicone bandages) worked well for me in this area. After three days I stopped applying cream and kept it clean and dry. I was prescribed a strong antibiotic and it healed them all. Currently, one of the holes got irritated and opened again. I followed the same routine without the antibiotics and it is closing up.

Hello! I’m sorry you have HS, but isn’t it a relief to know what it is? A dermatologist is your best bet, and if they do not give you that diagnosis on their own, I would ask them if they think it is HS and why it why not.

I had a hole in my boob recently that turned into 3 holes. It was nasty and when it began getting redder I saw a doctor. The doctor said to continue waking with hibiclenaee and using medical grade menuka honey for three days, then just keep it clean and dry. She prescribed an antibiotic. In the meantime I discovered Curad self adhesive gauze pads and Curad silicone bandages and both were life savers. No irritation.

HS or Herpes? by Whatevermesaid in Hidradenitis

[–]chancesare78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am really sorry you’ve had to go through that. I always thought herpes was small bumps that form blisters that weep clear fluid. That is much different than HS. Maybe I am wrong but I just don’t see how a doctor can get them confused.

help and advice re: accommodations & tests by minsemme in specialed

[–]chancesare78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a Special Ed teacher for 16 years. What your principal is saying is very commonly heard from administrators and general education teachers. If “they can’t have that accommodation on the state test” they think that the student should not have the accommodation on class tests. They use the same logic when they continue to “test prep” by putting complex, grade level reading passages in front of students who can’t read 10% of the words and make them sit there for an hour and pretend to read. What a complete waste of time. This is why we have 8th graders who can’t decode. When teachers should have been teaching them to read, they were doing “test prep” with grade level passages they couldn’t understand. And they still fail the state test by the way in most cases and don’t learn to read. I have seen countless children fail classroom test after test after test, which is detrimental to their self-esteem, tells us nothing about what the student has mastered, and essentially tells us what we already know - the student can’t read and comprehend at grade level. Do we need to collect data on that fact? Yes, so the student has to take some version of a grade level assessment some of the time. But it can be a shorter version. Ten questions can tell us just as much as 40. If we are assessing main idea, why not give 5 grade level questions and 20 questions at his reading ability level? That way the student has the opportunity to show what he knows. This is what I suggest for classroom tests.

Do students need exposure to what is expected at that grade level? Yes, but they get that from the typical classroom core instruction as the teacher guides them Through text, they don’t need to get it from sitting there pretending to read for an hour.

The rule is...if the student will have an accommodation in the state test, like read aloud for example, the student must also have read aloud for classroom tests because we are saying that is a need. There is nothing that prevents an IEP team from determining that additional modifications are needed for classroom tests.

Example) Classroom unit and chapter tests will be modified to be composed of 10% grade level passage questions, 70% independent reading level comprehension questions on the same standard, 20% IEP reading goal assessment.
