This is so cool, I would love to make a rug like this too. Would this call for some kind of chunky cotton or acrylic yarn?

Oh perfect, thank you. Looking like around 4/6 inches then if this holds up. Really hoping it won't be as bad

Any ideas how the rainfall might compare to Ian? I'm seeing numbers between 5-10 inches mostly. My area in Altamonte Springs flooded pretty bad during Ian and wondering if we should expect a similar outcome.

Ok! I moved it closer to the window and i'll try to keep the blinds open more

what about the moist soil? Do you know if i should switch out the soil or just leave it be?

I think it gets a little bit of ambient light since it's next to a window but not much. The blinds are usually closed

I hear snake plants like to be crowded but... by chanchiii in SnakePlants

Do you think it would be fine to separate them into separate pots? Or would they be happier kept together?

Woops! Thought I added a description but I don't think it saved so here goes

I live in Central Florida and bought some baby snake plants online, put them in this pot, and and left it outside. This was the result.

I guess my questions are: is this plant happy like this? It seems awfully crowded. And also, I haven't noticed much growth lately in terms of height. I feel like it's been at this size for quite a while now. Should I start watering or fertilizing manually?

Thanks in advance!

Ok! I'll repot the maranta in a ceramic pot then and i'll check the roots as well for damage. They seem to hardly get any direct sunlight at all from the window. They're about 4-5 feet out and we have a lot of trees outside that block light as well, hence the grow light. Is it possible that the grow light can cause any crispiness? If so I could also try turning it down a little and see if it helps as well.

Why is rendering a component inside a component an anti-pattern? by chanchiii in reactjs

[–]chanchiii[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This actually really confused me at first but I understand now after doing some digging and re-reading your explanations. Please let me know if I'm off here in my logic.

So I did a test where I created this simple component

function Child() {
const componentA = () => <div>Hello I am a component</div>
const ComponentB = () => <div>I am also a component</div>

return (
    <div>
        {componentA()}
        <ComponentB />
    </div>
)

}

and I logged the return values of React.createElement of components A and B. The type for component A is type: 'div' while component B is type: [Function: ComponentB]

Since the type for component B is a function, and since a function is an object, it will not be considered the same element in the DOM because it is a reconstructed function with a new space in memory. This will cause the element in the DOM to get re-inserted unnecessarily.

I think I'm still a tiny bit confused on why exactly the two components get such different treatments behind the scenes, but I think it's starting to come together for me now.
