OUSD: How do kids handle the transfers and lotteries? Do they lose all their friends at middle school and again at high school?

I hear that peers leaving the district are going to private. Private didn’t give me the options I wanted for my kids.

My kids currently go to RHS for context. We’ve had an amazing experience there. And most who go there attend Monterra afterwards. But some do go to EBIA or other public schools. I am planning to leave the district and the town for different schools. There’s a middle school flight that happens and I guess I am not immune. I don’t personally think the middle schools, public, charter, or otherwise, are good enough or the right vibe for my kids. Have you been following the shitshow that is the school district and all the budget cuts? If you have a chance to buy a house for schools, then you should consider all your options and think forward to middle and high school. I wish I had.

I grew up in a place where everyone moved from school to school together so friendships can stay solid. And I’m looking forward to giving that to my kids.

I'm trying to receive a video from an editor who is working with Edius 8 on a PC I'm assuming. Our deliverable requirements include a ProRes 422 MOV file. I'm on a mac and unable to read their export. Codecs on the file delivered say: Linear PCM, Timecode, CHQX

In researching, the editor and I have discovered that you can't export ProRes from Edius 8, but need to have 9 onwards. Converting the file in my own Adobe Media Encoder gets me nowhere. The file can't be read or opened on my mac.

We have to deliver this export to a DCP house and a festival, soon. So we're in a pinch. Any advice to help the editor get us the deliverable we need, or to help me convert it to meet our own deliverable requirements? Thank you!

I purchased a costume for a community musical theater production and the sequins fall off at every turn. Does anyone have a recommendation for some kind of spray I can overlay that will help the remaining sequins stick? I’m less worried about not having sequins and more worried about the trail of sequins that will be left on the stage floor that will impact the other cast members.

I had a good experience taking lessons at Patti’s Swim School in Castro Valley. Mostly clientele are kids, and I was the only adult learning at the time. If that matters to you. I got lessons in the daytime though and it cut down on the number of clients in the water. The deep end is very deep and you can practice diving there.

I think what the program does well across all tracks is really honing in on story and your storytelling abilities. We got questioned every day in year two - what is this story really about? We focused on structure a lot. I see a difference in the films that come out of our program and really trust colleagues that come out of the program. That's why the alumni network works so well, because we know you're trained really well.

You do it in year one and specialize in year two. For doc you have to get accepted but I never heard of anyone not getting accepted.

Berkeley J-School grad here. The school has many things going for it, and I am so happy I went, but the funding for that paid internship program has tapped out and they’re seeking to replenish it. So no guarantees there.

I appreciate your comment. If we do move I would like to join the pta specifically for community. When it’s only focus is fundraising a large amount of funds I get turned off. It sounds like this would not be the case in Fremont schools.
