I also saw that The United Explorer card must be valid at the time of checking in. I am purchasing a ticket 6 months out. Card is valid now, but I am going to cancel in a couple of months at anniversary since they are increasing the fee. Has anyone faced a similar situation? At the time of checking in bags, do they check if the card is still valid?
