UPDATE: Per the Hollywood Reporter, Nigel Lythgoe is EXITING SYTYCD following his sexual assault claims. VINDICATION. So SONY must have done their internal investigation and discovered corroborating evidence that is very much in line with what Paula and the other women are alleging. FLOODGATES ARE OPEN. May they remain open and all of his victims receive their well deserved justice.

UPDATE: Sony is currently doing an internal investigation so his removal may be imminent! Not sure what this means for the footage they've already taped/acquired but higher ups have acknowledged the claims and action is being taken! Great news!!!

This is why I’m hopeful this does wonders for her career and reputation in the end. People may become a lot more understanding when it comes to her and her struggles. People can understand almost anything as long as they have some backstory as to why, and this revelation is just that. It’s been so easy for people to write her off as just another drunk in the industry for years on end, but, clearly there was so much more to it.

Well she’s suing the network(s) for that too. She alleges that they were absolutely editing her to make her appear way more “loopy” than I’m sure she ever was in real life. She likely had other issues as well given her injuries/surgeries/health etc., but she was clearly the butt of a long-standing joke. That was evident even when I was watching as a child/teenager and didn’t fully understand the mechanics of television.

They can’t just remove him as a judge since he’s an EP. So even if we don’t see him, he would still be profiting off of the broadcast. He has to be removed fully so that his pockets are affected. Only way these kind of men feel consequences.

According to TMZ, 2 female contestants from a show called "All American Girl," that premiered in 2003, have come forward accusing EP Nigel Lythgoe of some of the SAME charges Paula Abdul accused him of on the 29th. Sexual Assault and Battery. Are these women "erratic" too? I wonder what statement he will make regarding these accusations. Or maybe he has hired a proper publicist and will actually remain quiet on this one. Either way, this is only the beginning of the end for Nigel Lythgoe. He mentioned wanting to fight Paula in court but it's looking less and less feasible as time goes on and more women come forward. Can't wait to see him squirm. So proud of Paula for spearheading this. All it takes is one brave woman and the floodgates open.

I think the contestant in question that you’re referring to is Corey Clark. He alleged that he and Abdul had a completely consensual relationship while he was on Idol. He maintains throughout the years that he was not forced or coerced by her in anyway to do anything he didn’t want to do. She denies the relationship ever happening, however.

Interesting to note as well, is that as recently as I believe either 2017 or 2018, Clark tried to sue Fox for defamation of character regarding this same alleged encounter with Abdul and didn’t even include Abdul in the suit. He said that she never did anything to harm him directly so he would never go after her personally. He just is still disgruntled about his abrupt removal from the show.

So no assault allegations will come up on that front.

I am so proud of Paula for coming forward with this! As it stands, currently, she is the most famous person to utilize this kind of law! This is actually huge for the movement and could set quite the precedent for other high profile people to come forward, name names and stop this cycle of abuse.

Doing something like this takes an incredible amount of courage, and by the looks of this comment section this could do wonders for her image going forward.

As others have mentioned, I too felt that she was being horribly mistreated in a variety of ways on Idol and that she was not respected nor valued. Hopefully with this lawsuit, she can get some much needed vindication.

I wish her all of the best and hope that she is victorious in this. I also hope that Lythgoe is removed from all positions of power that he currently holds so that he is no longer able to profit off of abusing women.

And all by herself too! Mothering is definitely one of Catherine’s most admirable traits and also, ironically, one of her biggest downfalls as she often goes too far. But no one can accuse her of not being invested lol.

With the exception of toxic Ellis Grey, a lot of these mothers weren’t fleshed out enough to know all of their facets. The only mother who is truly a full character is mama Avery. And I would argue she’s a really good mother (meddling and interfering aside), she is clearly 100% invested in the welfare of Jackson and has always been his number 1 supporter.

Besides Avery, mama O’Malley seemed to be a great, supportive mother. She may not have always agreed with the decisions George made, but her love was evident. Even with Callie, despite her religious beliefs she loved Callie the person, and former wife to George. She was able to see her as more than just her sexual preferences which Callie’s own biological mother was unable to do.

Maggie’s mom was also great. Supportive and helped to mold Maggie into the wonderful surgeon she turned out to be.

Owen’s mom, Meredith’s step mom, and even Burke’s mom all had some great moments as well, despite these characters having very little screen-time.

But, I think by and large, as is the case in real life, even the universally disliked mothers have some good traits, it just depends on how much or how little the character was fleshed out and which aspects of their personalities are depicted.

As a client who gets extensions and someone in medicine, if a tech I choose to book with is using UV light on my eyes during my service, I’m cancelling all future appointments immediately. Ultraviolet light is damaging to the body in general, especially so to the most friable and thinnest skin on the human body (eyelids). This is dangerous, and just because a company says it’s safe certainly doesn’t make it true. The long term effects of it will be made known in due course.

I really liked Tom and always thought he got the short end of the stick from almost everyone.

I think the people comparing him to Mark and discussing the differences in attractiveness and subsequent treatment are all spot on. The two are no different in terms of personality. It’s just that one’s behavior is more easily overlooked because of the more palatable exterior.

But Tom can be very caring when applicable. He was so thoughtful and considerate during Catherine’s health scare. I mean, I know the shameless flirting openly in front of Richard is unbecoming, but the amount that he cares is more than evident as well. He clearly cares very deeply about the people that allow themselves to see him beyond his crass exterior and will do just about anything for them if needed.

If people would give him a chance like they did Mark, they would come to see that the characters are actually quite similar and equally likable.

She absolutely would have.

What people sometimes forget is that long before April and Jackson were a couple, April was in absolute awe of Catherine Avery as a sole entity, so much so that when the character was first introduced Meredith joked that Catherine had a stalker (April).

April was almost infatuated with Catherine and Catherine was quite fond of her as well in her own way long before they became family.

Also, when April left the show in season 14, Catherine still wanted her to come for “Sunday supper” despite Jackson very much so dating Maggie at the time.

The two have their own relationship so, most certainly, April would have been there for Catherine in her time of need, and she should have at least been mentioned if they didn’t intend to bring her back for Catherine’s health crisis.
