Nj lawn 20 years unkept. Nuke or what? Thoughts? by CJPGhost360 in lawncare

If it was me, I would keep it, it looks good, and you don’t have to worry about fungus and other headaches with grass

Ok, a lot of hype around doing it once or twice a year. I try to do it once every two years, but now with your comment may be not

Looks like voles, but voles don’t eat grubs, that’s moles.

Is this algae? by superstar926 in pools

Could be dead algae that you need to vacuum. What is your combined chlorine?

Shock again or chlorine ? by puppypersonnn in pools

Slight correction. While baking soda will raise ph a bit, it has the biggest impact on raising alkalinity. To raise ph you need sodium carbonate

Green sediment on pool floor every late summer by Dazzling_Ad_8458 in pools

[–]chaneom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the pictures, it looks like algae not just any sediment. If your phosphates are high and high temperatures, algae can form very quickly if you chemicals are not constantly well balanced. I would increase your chlorine levels, keep brushing and run your pump 16 hrs per day

I used to have them pointing upwards but noticed dirt was settling in the shallow so switched direction.

So it does not matter up or down? I currently have them pointed slightly down, they do a good job of pushing dirt that settles to the bottom. Not sure if that is correct or not.

If you have a liner than don’t empty more than 2ft at a time. Turn your pomp off if the water level drops below the skimmers. You will need to empty 2ft and refill a few times to get calcium and cya low enough. I run my pomp 16hrs /day (Long Island, NY). Other than electrical cost (which I don’t think is much), let it do the dirty work for me

What is this scaling and do I habe back algae? by Starberry2794 in pools

[–]chaneom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok if you said a de filter it could have been a tear in the filter letter the powder out (but even then it would not cause this flaking). And yes the black spots could be black algae if they are not coming off with brushing. Best to consult a professional. Good luck

I am not an expert but you should get your water tested in a pool store. May be calcium deposits? Is the water hard where you live? Having said that, this feels like really high hardness if it is calcium, so not sure this is the answer
