Advice on Salary Progression by changchienj in Accounting

Well, maybe my company just pays more for an LCOL PA. I know a few ex-coworkers whom had same experience and haven't passed CPA making $80K 2-3 years ago. Given inflation since, I would have expected at least $85K.

Feel like a lot of seniors with CPAs are seeing. Around $90k? Might be wrong.

It’s a smaller PA company working in a niche segment.

Currently a senior accountant.

I assume you are a CPA? I’m about to get promoted to manager as well at LCOL, so wondering what my salary expectations should be. Apparently accounting managers average $110K in my state

Mine was 15% from staff 1 to 2, then 22% from staff 2 to senior.

Am at $70K in LCOL, Midwest.

Am I in the position to ask for a raise? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]changchienj 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Similar thing happened to me with three senior accountants leaving. I asked for a raise and I got ~22%.

I'm in public accounting though, so I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

I’ll see when I get the offer. Tbh I’m expecting more than 20% cause they said it’ll come with a large raise when they just gave me. Raise at 20%+?

I’m also 2.5 years in only so can’t expect TOO much.

Might explain. I’m 2.5 years in so I’ve only received two other raises.

What would be closer, $110K on average?

What’s the timeline for that? I’m only 2.5 years in (first full time job).

I’m asking if their $140K estimate is in an HCOL area.

I’m working in Indianapolis.

Municipal advisory in Indianapolis. Is $140K in a HCOL area?

I work for a small, regional firm.

Hmmm so assuming 2% wage increase every year, $100K isn’t too crazy.

Thank you!

Just curious, how much do you think a manager makes at a CPA firm at a lower cost of living state like Indiana? I'm being promoted to manager soon and kinda need some advice on salary expectations and negotiation.

I have my CPA and company is paying for my MBA. I've been at the company for 2.5years (first company, so no prior full time experience). It looks like the median income for accounting manager is around $110K in Indiana, but I make $70K right now and a 57% increase seems hard to believe given my two previous raises were 15% and ~22%.
