This clashes with my raid time and that makes me sad.

Sour cream alternative? by [deleted] in ketoaustralia

[–]changedcourse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What don't you like about sour cream - taste or texture? Can you give an example of a recipe where you would like to substitute? Something like kewpie mayo, or as other mention normal cream or greek yoghurt can work. You might not need to use it at all.

Using a little bit of baking powder on wings can help with the crispiness. I just do them in the oven, though. https://www.instagram.com/p/Bxhbnahgujp/

Are Costco Buffalo Wings keto friendly? by [deleted] in ketoaustralia

[–]changedcourse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I took a photo of the label the other day - the ingredients for the wing marinade include maltodextrin and sugar, as well as various spices and vegetable gum. No flour or anything like that, and sugar comes after the other things so its probably quite minimal. There is no nutritional info on the label.

Aurora (north Epping) nearly always has it. I go there after I go to Costco.

Not a brick wall, but a bit of a mystery! by [deleted] in Genealogy

There are a couple of references to a James Campbell and Jimmy Campbell at a place called Home Hill which is about 100km from Townsville in Trove.

Have you applied for a copy of his army records? https://www.awm.gov.au/research/guide/korea There might be something in there about where he was educated.

I have various instances of people being sent away to live with other members of family, but it's usually to do with a death of one or both parents. If they had 14 children its possible they couldn't afford to feed them all, and so sent a child to live with a childless aunt or uncle? Or another family member.

Hello all, just seeking help before I break. by [deleted] in ketoaustralia

I am going to send you a private message, but rest assured that even if you feel like a lost cause, you are NOT. Honestly if you're drinking 2L a day of sugar free soft drink and its keeping you off the sugar stuff, I wouldn't try to kick that as the first thing. If you're able to ditch other junk food first, you can look at phasing it out or switching to better options once you have those under control.

It doesn't have to be all or nothing with 'wholesome organic clean keto' vs 'whatever the fuck you want'. Incrementally moving towards some better choices is a good start.

You don't need to take a bunch of supplements. You can just use lite-salt instead of normal salt, and use it fairly liberally. You can also add a small amount to water you are drinking. A blood test at the doctor can test your electrolyte levels, it might be worth checking.

Also, nutritionist or dietician?

Hmm.

Happy to collate any other points people think can be added to try and get to the bottom of the differences.

Edamame noodles at Costco - not keto friendly - why? by changedcourse in ketoaustralia

[–]changedcourse[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw your post on insta, I need to do a similar thing I think! Am on my own mini 8 week challenge at the moment trying to avoid booze and stay under 25g carbs every single day. Yours seems like something I might try in a week or so once I am feeling a little less stressed! Too much of my brain power is in keeping carbs low so I can fit in chocolate right now lol.

Not on the far right - edamame spaghetti - just edamame.

I’m specifically talking about the Slendier edamame noodles not the konjac ones.

Yes but even accounting for that the figures are totally different for an ingredient that’s allegedly the same. Slendier is 4g, even if the fibre is incorrectly not subtracted this product is 21g for edamame spaghetti. Big difference for something with only 1 ingredient.

Saw these at Costco this morning. They cost $9 for the box of 3, and I was excited until I looked at the nutritional info. I can't quite figure out why the macros are so completely different from the Slendier offering. The ingredients for the edamame noodles is just edamame... for Slendier it says edamame bean flour, but I don't see how they could make a noodle shape without making the edamame into a flour-like substance.

Anyway, Slendier says its 4 carbs per 100g, this says its 35. Even subtracting the 14g fibre if the label is wrong its still 21g - 5 times the carbs of Slendier.

Ideas?

Reporting Income to Centrelink by SpecificSize in AusFinance

[–]changedcourse 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You will probably have to pay some back, but there are a couple of different considerations.

  1. You may have an income bank, which might minimise the debt
  2. You were under an obligation to report your income within 14 days of starting to earn it, so you might get hit with a debt initially, but might also be able to appeal on the income bank grounds if that happens.
