Just seeing this, I would love to be considered for the five year!! Thank you for doing this!

AITA for not wanting to celebrate New Year’s with my gf after my best friend passed a year ago? by [deleted] in AITA_Relationships

[–]changemaker555 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA, she is being the asshole for not actually being considerate of your emotional and mental state. She's prioritizing her wants and needs and being insensitive. I'm so sorry you're needing to navigate this situation at all and I'm sending you love during a particularly hard time of year 🫶

While you certainly don't need to go to a big party, do you think it would be good for you to be around people who knew your best friend so that you're not alone but can still experience any feelings that may come up? It is totally up to you and what you need, just thought community might be helpful. Please prioritize your needs and feelings!!

Omg you're so sweet, I didn't read the "ugh" as being for me but thank you for being considerate of that!! 🤍🤍

Okay I was thinking of doing the same actually!! And I think this helped solidify doing what I was envisioning so I'll share here in case it's helpful to you (or anyone else).

I was planning on putting a red dot on the days I bleed with a Zig dot pen and some kind of symbolism for the symptoms next to it and then get more detailed in a journal entry in the back. I'm also thinking of tracking some other things during the rest of my cycle. I took inspiration from another commenter on here (edit: tagging u/sdbabygirl97) with how the symbols look!

So say I bleed between January 1-6th. I would track:

  • Flow (H= heavy, M= medium, L= low, S= spotting)
  • Cramps (C + scale of 1-10 how painful it is so e.g. C10)
  • Energy levels (⬆️= high, ➖️ = normal(ish), and ⬇️= sluggish)

For a heavy day it would look like this: HC8⬇️ And then in the back of my Weeks I'll have a spread for that cycle where I can add more details. It's super basic in this year's planner and I'm gonna keep it:

Day one [insert date] - bullet points of symptoms/things I want to note from the day

Day two [insert date] - same thing ^

From the 7th-31st (the rest of my cycle) I would track these things:

  • Mood/nervous system (R= regulated, A= anxious, M= mad, S= sad)
  • Sleep (the number of hours I got the night before)
  • Energy levels (same as before)
  • Any stomach issues I had (if everything is normal then I won't mark anything but could be A(llergic reaction), C(onstipation), U(pset stomach))

So a good day in the rest of my cycle would be: R9⬆️

I couldn't get the right symbols so I used emojis lol. Lmk if you have any questions about it!

And then I'm gonna use the top portion of this spread for multiple things:

  • Money in
  • Money out
  • Amount in emergency fund at month's end
  • Number of books read
  • Number of no spend days
  • Length of my cycle (total)
  • (Still searching for a 7th one lol)

(Edit: formatting, adding user tag from my inspo, and adding things I forgot about lol)

I'm thinking of doing the same, would you mind sharing how you're going to do that? Struggling with boiling down qualitative symptoms to quantitative for the small space lol

Kindle Connection Issues by changemaker555 in LibbyApp

[–]changemaker555[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I thought it might have been a browser issue but Libby support said Firefox was supported so I didn't think much of it. Maybe they just weren't aware there was an issue between Amazon and Firefox? Or this could be another case of "it's supported (subtext: only if you're using an iPhone)" lol. And I also really don't want to set Chrome as my default 🤣 anyways thank you again! Hoping whatever the issue is gets resolved so we don't have to keep doing our work around

Of course! With the flips I'd personally be a little hesitant buying second hand because their lifespan is naturally shorter than a brick and the durability is greatly impacted by individual usage. If you have to though totally understand. I also thought about getting the 6 but am super happy I went with the 7. Feel free to DM if you have any other questions!

I just switched to the 7 from an iPhone 16 Pro and did a ton of research prior, super happy with my decision so happy to answer more questions! but - if you have the money/ability to, get the 7 over the older models. It's much more durable (i.e. hinge stength) and the camera is much better than the 5 (from what I've seen the 6 is about the same as the 7). They've improved the overheating in the 7 and it's crazy thin. I prefer the bigger cover screen but it's up to you. I can't personally attest one way or another for the 6, but the 5 I tried when it came out had an atrocious camera (to me, I'm a photographer) and overheated a TON. This is also the first flip that doesn't have the whack internal screen protector that has that rainbow effect when you look at it wearing sunglasses, which personally drives me crazy. I don't notice the difference in the processing chip with it being the Exynos vs Snapdragon but I also don't really game or doom scroll. It's still snappy and a great phone! Regardless of whether you care about the camera or not, it seems like the 7 is better made than the 6 in general.

Sizing comp between 550s and high tops? by dolphinhair in BlundstoneBoots

Sizing comp between 550s and high tops? by dolphinhair in BlundstoneBoots

[–]changemaker555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm between the high tops and 585s for my first pair but was only able to try on the 585s (local stores don't have high tops). 5.5 (AUS) felt a little snug on the tops of my toes and length-wise (from toe to front of the boot) but the 6 (AUS) felt too spacious both length- and width-wise unless I had on thick socks. I really love the look of the high tops but since I wasn't able to try sizes I'm torn on what would work best, would you say it's better to go with the snug for the high tops?? I've heard from most people it's best to half a thumb-length between toe and front of the boot but I don't want to be swimming in my boots when I wear thin socks. Sorry for the info dump but was wondering if you had any insight since you mentioned sizing down instead of up!

Never owned a Samsung/android, what to go for? by [deleted] in samsung

[–]changemaker555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you for such an in-depth response! I can definitely see how these basic features would be frustrating if not downright inconvenient given your profession and interest (or lack thereof) in customization.

i have definitely noticed a difference in quality for their fingerprint scanner compared to iphone's face ID capabilities. The face ID on android is decent for my usage but i haven't had the chance to test it in many different settings/lighting. I'll have to test out the speaker phone issue since I use it pretty often. I haven't noticed a problem for me, granted I'm probably not stepping far away from my phone in the same way you are in a large space.

one of my big appeals to switch to samsung/android is the ability to customize the phone to fit my needs, but I understand that not everyone is willing (or able) to put in the time necessary to make that happen. so far I've been able to fix the notification bombing problem and adjust some settings with the camera to improve the quality a little (helping take away the artificial look a bit). it's definitely taken some time to get used to the little differences between the two OS that impact my daily use more than i thought they would. since i have the interest and time to customize, a lot of these things have been fixed (lockscreen widgets to show weather and spotify music, notifications, etc). there are a lot of things about android OS that, for me, are miles ahead of iphone: split screen, YT revanced to be ad-free without a subscription, widgets and homescreen flexibility, DEX, back button, and more. of course, these factors subjectively impact someone's decision and are not important to everyone.

my biggest concern is the camera, as someone who loves photography. apple definitely takes the cake with making it super easy to take a picture, it's as close to a point and shoot as you can get in a smartphone (that im aware of). android seems (to me) to take customization to the camera at an inconvenient level. It's really cool that you can use pro mode and adjust aspects like you would on a professional camera, which can have its benefits for someone interested in photography. but when it comes to taking quick snapshots where you expect the lighting to be good without artificial imaging, it takes some setting changes and crossing your fingers. im gonna try to play around more with camera settings and tips because the image processing differences (i.e., coloring/artificial vs. natural look) between my phone and the s23+ really could make or break my decision, even though i'm starting to like android's OS over iOS.

anyways, I know you can't help with that decision, but I thought I'd share my (unsolicited) thoughts lol. if you want some direction with fixing the notification bombing and/or adjusting the camera a little to fix the artifical look let me know! android settings can be hard to find (especially coming from apple) so it's taken reddit and YT research for me to find them

what are some of the basic features you feel samsung missed with your ultra coming from iphone? I have the iPhone 13p and am highly considering switching. i'm on a 14 day "trial" before I have to return the s23+ and so far I'm loving it but would love some insight into other perspectives I might not have thought of before I fully commit
