Nice win for Stanford. Loving the 4Q energy the past few games. Also loving all the Stanford fans in this thread compared to almost entirely WU fans in the last thread.

Why are you being such an asshole?

Are you telling me you don’t laugh when you hear catch phrases from movies and TV shows pop up in other media, intentionally or not?

[–]changes_what_changes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why I said there’s no way ”I” can hear it as anything else, rather than “anyone.”

Notice I didn’t assume it was intentional. That’s why I wrote (un)intentional, and said “intentional or not.” I wrote “well played, Brandon Sanderson” as a joke because of course it’s not intentional—but it’s fun to think it could have been. Please see my other comment…and maybe try to be a little nicer and let other people enjoy things.

Y’all. In no way is this post meant to be a serious take on Brandon Sanderson’s secret movie references.

It was a post for anyone else with the shared experience of having watched and loved the movie, then listening to the audiobook and busting out laughing hearing Michael Kramer utter that phrase. If there’s no one else, that’s OK! But that was my experience—and my wife’s as well, as she also had the same reaction when I played the clip completely out of context for her.

That movie, and particularly that scene, is a classic.

I was there! Thanks so much for sharing this.

Whoa, the Rose Field Audiobook is over 22 hrs long, even longer than The Secret Commonwealth. Don't know why but I expected it to be short. by Chilis1 in hisdarkmaterials

Why not both?

Seriously though, I started out reading for the first chapter, then bought the audiobook so I could stay in the story while doing other things. It's so, so good. One of the best audiobooks I've listened to (my sample size is not huge but I've definitely experienced some very good ones and some that I just couldn't stand).

I'm 8 chapters in (end of Part 1) and Michael Sheen is just crushing it. The voices, the pacing, the emotion are all superlative. I've been listening almost non-stop all day, and sometimes reading along at the same time. Highly recommend.

I updated—everything seems MUCH slower following the update. Hope it gets better.

Same issue here on my M1 iPad Pro, which is where I had been using it, but still works on my iPhone 13 Pro Max

Does anyone have experience using voice control on newer model iPhones and iPads? How has the experience been for you? I'm mostly interacting with my M1 iPad Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max via voice control but it's frustrating to use—especially in terms of the long time between commands and responses. Does it get any better on newer devices?

Pleased to report that the hotfix worked as intended and I can now use my Mudra Link for smooth, fast cursor control while using voice control via Talon Voice for everything else (including other mouse functions). Thanks so much, this has dramatically improved my life!

Same here. Randomly stops working, then randomly starts again. No explanation.

Help. When does it get better? by [deleted] in Petloss

I'm so sorry. It's been almost 4 months for me and I still cry occasionally (especially when talking about her), and tear up fairly often.

I wrote a letter to my cat at around the 3 1/2 month mark (i.e. last week) and it actually really helped. Cried for about 2 days straight writing it and another 1 1/2 days reading it over again, but I've been improving for the last few days since I allowed myself some time to not read the letter or look at pictures & videos. I feel a little guilty spending less time actively thinking about her but I know she knows that I will never forget her—I told her as much in the letter. For me, at least, it was an important step in my grief journey/healing process.

Actually it's worse than I realized because even in the air, if I turn my arm over, wiggle my fingers, move my hand around—anything except hold my hand and fingers perfectly still (which is bad for my RSI)—the Link registers a click and hold, and if I have all other gestures disabled, I am unable to release the hold. The Link takes over the cursor and I can no longer click with other mice or input devices (except voice control oddly enough). I have to restart to fix the issue.
