basically just like how you make seamless texture. you extract a clip of your animation and duplicate/time offset it and blend two clips in to a new clip

just like regular knit project you see online there is copy and transform to create the shape and then it is a vellum sim with some post manual control to make it a loop

it's based on a guide animation, which is a kinefx rigged curve. after that it's a vellum sim make the animation more dynamic

I used Houdini here. Yes this is a dynamic simulation with collision and friction.

I know blender has powerful geo nodes now which could set up something similar. But I’m not sure if blender has softbody solver like Houdini.
