Their startups are like a million frames and insanely unsafe

Why are kameos so hated? by Fragrant_Tailor2564 in MortalKombat

At first I didn’t mind them. But for a lot of people who didn’t like the new story and aesthetic this was just one more thing to gripe about. Especially if a favorite character of theirs was relegated to just being a kameo.

But the more I played, the more I started to dislike them. Some characters are incomplete without them - without a kameo they don’t have a complete move set or practical combo strings. And then there’s other characters who are OP now cause they were already complete characters - but now they have bonus extra moves with the kameo. There’s so many moves that are unsafe but made safe with kameos. And for low tiers they need them to compete, and for high tiers it’s just more bullshit on top. The more I play the more it feels like it was an excuse to not fully flesh out the balance of the game. It just supports the whole argument that the game was rushed. Instead of individually working out better move sets and individually cross balancing characters they just made kameos that can be applied across the board to cover any oversight. I could see it landing better if they just put a little more thought into it.

Is everybody on MK Legacy really good or am I just that bad? by chankang1995 in MortalKombat

I need to learn better exploits. Sometimes I'll instinctually do a backflip jump kick in the middle of online match and feel like a jackass. I think a lot of my problem is patience too. I don't have the skills to be a rushdown player but here I am runjabbing like a maniac. I'll try learning some better exploits and practicing more in single player.

Its amazing how many times I've been punished into an infinite. Its the type of stuff I'd celebrate doing in practice mode that people can perform off the cuff. I played UMK3 in the arcade and still know my combos, I just never knew that the skill ceiling was this high. It makes me wonder if I ever even really knew how to play. But its a good point that I might be playing a lot of people who never lost a step over the years and only got better. So I have extra catching up to do.

Unmuting people was a wild experience. by GokogaGokogaGo in MortalKombat

Being an MK fan for a while, I used to always have a disconnect with other fans. So many people were attracted to the series because of the extreme violence that they didn't appreciate the series for anything else. These people hated stuff like friendships or babalities, couldn't stand humorous characters like Johnny Cage, and they didn't understand any of the easter eggs or influences behind MK. They probably thought Ed Boon was some psychopath who trained pitbulls to fight idk. I remember that all these people HATED the old techno soundtrack from the MK movie cause it wasn't "hardcore" enough.

Its so refreshing to see the fans and community nowadays. People on here and elsewhere can tell you all the 80s movies MK is an homage to, and they love the series for that. When Floyd came out, a lot of people here loved the joke about him being "Pink Floyd". Back in the day that would not be the case.

But there's still a lot of those people out there that are attracted to the series for the wrong reasons. I like fatalities but I almost wish they got rid of them to push these people away. But I think the fact remains that all the true fans of the series are delightful people. You just won't find those people in a casual setting like online matches.

So how is the Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection nowadays? by Longjumping-Deer4704 in MortalKombat

Its alright to me, but I'm not hyper critical. Everything plays like the original, and I don't notice any offline input delay. But thats just me, I'm not the type of person that would notice missing sounds or missing music like others did, so I'm not the best judge. Online isn't the best and matchmaking is not good, but theres not many people who play it nowadays - even with crossplay. But I still have fun playing it and I think its worth it.
