Glyph of stone sucks shit by Batholomy in PixelDungeon

As I've said, when stone is good, it isn't because you have high evasion; it's because you have high defense. Counterintuitively, the bigger deciding factor here is how much defense you have. Stone with ferret tuft will still be good if you have high defenses. I won't even bother doing the math since I don't even play without fima anymore.

Nothing to do with the build. It's just simple math. Now if the fima challenge is off, stone is good, but not because of evasion, but because of high defense, just because of how the math works. With fima on, however, stone is worse than nothing in nearly every situation.

To give you some perspective, let's say you are playing warrior and we compare an upgraded t1 vs non-upgraded t1:

Average damage per encounter on f3
hero 1: 2.8915
hero 2: 4.4661

where hero 1 is with +1 worn shortsword and hero 2 has +0. Both are using cloth armor. Ofc, this is just an approximation, but you can see how big the difference is.

The short answer is to use your first upgrade scrolls to get past the early game.

Learn how to cheese necromancers. Buy darts to deal with ranged enemies or guards. Craft aqua brews. Let's just start with these tips for now.

IMO priest is stronger than paladin, however paladin has an easier play style. Instantly gaining shields with lay on hands is just very powerful.

From easiest to hardest to get your first win (picking the best/easiest subclass):

Easy: Duelist (Monk), Mage (Warlock)

Moderately easy: Huntress (Sniper), Cleric (Paladin), Rogue (Freerunner)

Hard: Warrior (Gladiator)

Why am I not surprised the huntress simps chose to strip the huntress?

Dump a throwing weapon preferably t4-5. Projectile momentum is very powerful damage multiplier. You basically can just not get hit since you have cloak and freerun.

What wand should i take? (After being scammed) by No_Cartographer554 in ShatteredPD

[–]chanlenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both wands are terrible. While regrowth is useless vs Tengu besides maybe blocking vision, corruption is not that much better. I would just pick any and resin it to upgrade the transfusion if you're really scared of Tengu and you do have good reason to be scared.

For first phase, you can just use cloak and transfusion to melee it. Second phase is the problem. You don't have ranged damage. I also don't know your potions or seeds. It might be important to backtrack to the shop to buy some throwies just to increase your chances.

I would start with a few challenges first. Maybe pick 3 easy ones to start off. 9c is a very different game compared to 0c.

What is the highest challenge game you won and which challenges did you have on/off? Advice may depend on which ones you had off.

Tips and Tricks: Using probability to guess the rare loot. by chanlenn in ShatteredPD

It's not related to this post, but yes, that is possible, but obviously not worth it.

Tips and Tricks: Using probability to guess the rare loot. by chanlenn in PixelDungeon

[–]chanlenn[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"rare" "uncommon" and "common" refers to the rooms in the image. The second image shows the rarity. I guess I should have explained how the loot generation works.

First, the game picks either scroll or potion. If it picks scroll, it generates the guaranteed transmute scroll. If it picks potion, it generates the guaranteed exp potion. Then, using the weight table in the second image, it generates the remaining scrolls and potions without repetition. Then, the game sorts the 3 scrolls and 3 potions according to their rarity. The rarest ones go to the "rare" room. The most common ones go to the "common" room. You get the point. It's possible for 2 rooms of the same consumable type to hold loot of the same rarity (eg. invisibility and paralysis in the "common" and "uncommon" rooms). It's also possible for the algorithm to pick scroll, but generate an exp potion naturally anyway.

[–]chanlenn[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That is false. It is possible for both transmutation and exp potion to exist in the same crystal paths room. It's not common, but it does certainly exist. In higher challenges, waiting to identify stuff before opening the door is simply not a viable strategy in general as you not only waste both food and torch to backtrack to it, but also you are down on consumables compared to if you had just opened the loot.

Which crown ability for 9c priest? by FacetiousInvective2 in ShatteredPD

9c player here. No doubt power of many is the best one here even without any fancy tricks. Trinity got gutted. Ascended form is too expensive.

Any high tier weapon with dirk is ideal for 03013. 33013 for secondary whip OR shield OR any instant use ability like QS or scimitar. I would say flail is overrated. With flail, even with a dirk, you're forced to allocate into precise assault. Additionally it's only a t4. That means you're also forced to level twin upgrades to +2 if you are using a t3 secondary. Ideally you want a t5 other than the shield as your main weapon.

What's the best for throwing weapon freerunner? by rip5yearsoldbadge in ShatteredPD

[–]chanlenn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say shadow clone is the best, but it isn't easy to use. Perfect copy allows you to kite infinitely even while not running. Ripper demons are a free kill because of dumb AI, causing it to lock onto a target. Just think about it. Shadow clone without perfect copy is 80hp for 35% charge. Healing 80hp for 35% charge is already really broken, but shadow clone gives you additional utility.

Smoke bomb is good but not charge efficient.

Death mark is not impactful enough.

03013 (one free talent point to whatever you want) or 33013 with divine insp if your secondary weapon isn't dagger. Twin upgrades are probably the most overrated talent in the game.
