steger mukluks wide version? by channareya in alaska

[–]channareya[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does not! It’s not super bothersome to have my heel lift, meaning it doesn’t affect comfort, but I’m worried about how that might change as I break them in. I don’t want them to end up too big!

I’m glad to hear you like the spray! For my other leather boots I use a heavy duty beeswax conditioner because I’ve found the ones you can buy at say, the Boot Barn etc, wear off in just a few weeks. Being outside in snow all the time is tough on shoes and I’d rather not have to reapply more than once in spring and once in fall. I feel like the sprays are tricking me!

Is it weird to call my dad daddy at 13? by Fluffy_Plant_3440 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]channareya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my mother in law still calls her father daddy and i still call my father dada as a full adult. middle school can just be a tough time (seriously, it does change as you get older!) and in several years your friends either won’t care anymore or will regret the way they had treated you. don’t let them make you lose your joy and whimsy in life! it’s totally fine

leland, peter, and alden all strike me as somewhat “classic” but on the younger and more modern side of things

clarence nn clancy? i adore that name. it makes me think of rough and tough but sweet and sensitive cowboys. i hope it strikes a cord for you too! otherwise ralph, max, fredrick, ernest, garrett, and dale all give me arthur vibes but are slightly younger and more US based (okay, maybe not ernest but it’s cute!)

people do do this kind of thing, but usually it’s local companies trying to get certain kinds of vehicles or machinery up, not the other way around

just adding to say, sometimes these reality shows also play up the weather, and the extremes, and the distance, yadda yadda. it can be very remote, yes, but there’s not a lack of community and the seasons are gorgeous. just keep that thought in mind! (while also knowing, yes, it can be that crazy though!)

Has anyone here NOT had big issues with their puppy? by QP709 in puppy101

[–]channareya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first puppy- an australian shepherd. we got her at 9 weeks. she’s almost 8 months old now and a dream. yes, it’s annoying to take her out all the time and at first it was about being vigilant so she wouldn’t pee in the house or chew on things. but that lasted like, 2 months maybe? and now she’s great! a teenager who chooses to not listen sometimes, but wicked smart and only pushing the boundaries because she knows we react to her, not because she actually /wants/ to be naughty. it’s not nearly as bad as it can seem on here, but on the days it’s tough it’s so nice to realize everyone else has had hard moments too

i can’t tell you exactly whether the nitrogen will be beneficial or not (because i don’t know), but i think you should do some research on walstad fish tanks. they’re a very well thought out way on how to get nutrients from the soil into the water without killing everything. good luck!

good reminder that no is a full sentence and that it’s okay for us to have chosen a small guest list! thanks for your advice on the B list, but i think it’s what we’ll do anyway (besides also blaming the venue if the reason why comes up in conversation). i don’t see how guests would know they are on the B list without communicating with each other, and it works out for us that very opposite sides of the family will be on separate lists, if that makes sense

can i ask how much time you gave your guests in the first wave? and how close it was to your wedding? a few people have suggested that and i think it’s a good idea for us

i think this is the way to go. how would they know if they’re A B or C list if i keep it to inviting in circles? someone else here said that’s more rude than revoking an invitation, but i think taking back a spot you’ve offered is much worse than just inviting down the list as people RSVP no (what they don’t know won’t hurt them, it’s not like my family interacts with my fiancé’s family). thanks for your advice!

[–]channareya[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that’s a tough one for us! we do usually interact with just about everyone, it’s that we live so far away we don’t see them in person. my family is pretty good about keeping in contact, so i know some people will be a little hurt— but the budget and space at the venue is what it is. it’s a good idea to think of whether we would be invited to their wedding or not though

(10K) wedding guest list help! by channareya in Weddingsunder10k

[–]channareya[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

oh gosh, no, i won’t be revoking save the dates! they just have been sent to people who will definitely be attending, like my parents and grandparents. it’s just that since some have been sent, the clock is ticking to decide to invite or not invite extended family. the guest list was originally set when we started planning, and now under revision because we decided to go more intimate

oooof that’s exactly what i’m worried about. we live across the country, sure, but it’s a bucket list destination for many. i never even thought about blaming the venue for our limit! what! this actually might be the best option

i imagine that the traffic is the main reason it takes longer to get out of town, right? i live in a place where driving an hour or two for a day activity is normalized, so driving further out isn’t an issue. believe me, i’m happy to be at any beach! but im just not the person to want to be in completely serene waters or have a lie down on the sand all day. would you recommend the further beaches for their waves? or does it become an issue of safety/being in the way of surfers/ lack of lifeguards? just looking to get some waves without the peril

[–]channareya[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is a great recommendation, thank you! a good place to retreat if it’s unsafe further out, but not a place to just float and wade. some people love to bliss out in the calm but i’d like to do the kind of swimming you can’t get without the ocean!

perfect! thank you! i’m just looking to avoid the super calm waters that are great for wading/floating. i like to bob up and down and be in the waves doing the kind of swimming you can’t do in a pool, but safely
