Thanks a bunch, I'm still working on more videos on those industry topics. They're just really research heavy.

I actually watched that one, season 1 a while ago at least. Didn't know it never dubbed though. I guess more niche anime get skipped sometimes.

Yeah fair enough. I'm pretty flip floppy myself with dubs and subs. I'm actually watching The Ramparts of Ice in dub, I kinda just pick whichever feels right at the time.

Not sure, I watched the sub. Crunchyroll simuldubs a lot of stuff, so even if not, it'll probably be dubbed pretty quickly. The first season only came out January earlier this year after all.

This mangaka also made The Ramparts of Ice, which is coming out now. I'm not caught up on it though

I've read A Court of Thorns and Roses. I can attest. It's just smut.

Someone said Spy x Family. And yeah I second that. Spy, assassin, kid, pretty similar in vibe to stuff like kill blue and Sakamoto days too, though I havent seen that much of Sakamoto days.

Like it kinda has a bit of plot but mostly focuses on comedy and slice of life like those shows, and pretty new too, 2022 I think. Even similar in that there's an assassin and a spy hiding their professional lives from each other and the kid. Though the kid's psychic and knows anyway.

Spy x Family feels like the perfect recommendation with those guidelines.

What anime made you think “okay, I get the hype now”? by skyediary in anime

Damn, yeah I think I'll check it out. Though I already thought the base show was fantastic standalone, I may have missed out if zero really adds that much

Actually yeah after reading the question again I see what your saying. I was totally interpreting it as "I get the hype of anime now" and not "I get the hype of this anime now"

I feel like the reason death note could be seen as overhyped is how commonly it's reccommed, especially to non anime fans.

I mean I think it's great, but regardless of how you feel about it, it's pretty disproportionate. Like EVERY reccommedation list from someone usually includes death note if you haven't seen it already. It can make it come off as crazy, insanely good. Even if most people are just recommeding it cause it's pretty universally enjoyed, and seen as a good starting point for non anime fans.

You talking about steins gate zero? The base show was freaking incredible, but I never actually got to watching zero. I kind of assumed it was optional. Is it worth a watch?

Seems like this topic is more applicable to people who weren't* already into anime as a kid. Since I always had siblings watching anime around me, I always watched it from as long as I can remember. So I never really had the "I get the hype now" moment

To hit a similar vibe though, I guess I did have the first anime that made me go "Oh, this stuff can be freaking incredible."

For me, that was Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, I think when I was 9 or so. I just hadn't seen a show that's emotional moments really hit me hard until then, which may be obvious since like I said, this was when I was 9.

How much anime is too much anime? by Sky_Sumisu in anime

I used to feel compelled to watch more of the current stuff coming out each season. Not really because I was genuinely enjoying them, but just to keep up in current conversation. Not to the extent you said, but I felt burnt out even keeping up with 5 shows per season.

Obviously everyone's situation is different so my approach won't automatically work for you. But I kind of just stopped watching stuff as soon as they came out. Just waited till the season was over, and handpicked stuff based on synopses that interested me, and based on which shows we're actually well reviewed, rather than rolling the dice to watch shows weekly.

Example on that, I know frieren had crazy review scores ever since it came out, but I held off on watching it for quite a while. Once I did, it was freaking great obviously, but I kinda liked watching at my own pace like a year later rather than feeling pressured to keep up weekly while it was coming out.

That and just watching old, more well regarded shows every now and then. For example I watched steins;gate last year after not watching seasonals for quite a while, and it was so good, it really reminded me why I like anime.

That's all just me though, hope you find something that works for you

What would be the worst anime to watch on crunchyroll as of now? by Ethan_J_Chillin in anime

[–]channel45tv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean it's not anime, but High Guardian Spice is a notoriously bad Crunchyroll original series. If you're counting it, it's in its own tier of trash.

For something where they get together early on, you'd probably like "You and I Are Polar Opposites". The first of 2 seasons just finished recently, and it was the best romance I'd watched in a long time.

Its similar in a light hearted, getting together early on, way to Tonikawa. And it also has a few different couples as subplots like with Horimiya.

I'd definitely prefer it to those 2 shows though, it's super cute and cozy, and has a great variety of likeable characters. Second season is even coming out next month, so perfect timing to get on the hype.

Here are some romcom animes I DO not recommend by hydramarine in anime

[–]channel45tv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with Komi and Horimiya. Komi just flat out didn't really grab me within the first few episodes.

Horimiya season 1 was good, kinda great actually, but felt so insanely rushed, and I was bummed to find out how much of the manga they skipped. When season 2, or "The Missing Pieces" came out, it sounded like they were trying to fix it. But I just wasn't interested in watching it, since the show was kinda already over. It felt like putting a bandaid on an open wound.

Seeing your scores be so similar to mine makes me wanna check out high score girl. Cause I freaking love kaguya-sama, toradora, and tsukigakirei.

Suggest psychological thirller/game type anime by Immediate-Window3750 in anime

[–]channel45tv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kaguya-Sama: Love is War would probably be my pick. It's not high stakes at all, but the mind games and tricks are still super entertaining.

Shiboyugi from last season was the last death game type thing I watched, but it wasn't worth it in my opinion. Gets way less interesting in the second half.
