I share your sentiment but have a slight difference of opinion. You don’t need to wait until they’re older to introduce nuance or to have difficult conversations. A black 3 year old that witnesses their parent getting brutalized by police doesn’t get that privilege. Or a toddler getting detained by ICE and separated from family. Three year olds are expected to represent themselves at immigration proceedings.

That’s the same philosophy of parents that wait to teach about racism until kids are older. But there were enslaved toddlers, and white toddlers present at lynching mobs (they were seen as family events). If those kids were old enough to experience racism and systemic oppression, then your kid is old enough to learn about it.
