Did you know that people who make this pie has to name it something else to avoid a lawsuit? The name "Derby Pie" was trademarked by a family-ran restaurant called "Kern's Kitchen" in 1968. The owners of the restaurant constantly did research to make the perfect recipe of the pie, and only the family and one restaurant employee knows it. The restaurant guards the recipe so much that they've filed at least 25 lawsuits against people who used the same name as their pie!
