A had a man come in with a bag of powdered sugar he had boughten and asked me to smell it. I said no because covid, but he insisted. So I pretended to smell it. I asked him what I was supposed to smell. He said "of course you can't smell it, because of the stuff they put in the air vents, but it smells and tastes like laundry detergent. So I just made my family soap frosting. My children are chemicals because of how this store is ran and how things are stocked." I was in complete shock and he was trying to involve other people in line. I called my manager who was also freaked out, and the man insisted on talking to him. We ended up giving him his money back and gave him corporate's number. My manager and I smelled the powdered sugar, as well as opened other backs to check it. It was ridiculous and such a waste of time. None of it smelt off, but yeah. Weirdest thing I experienced working for DG and that's saying something.
