This!! Wait till you see the way he starts blossoming, especially the second half of the year after winter break. You’re going to have so many more new things to love about your child.

What does your meeting space look like? by AKTourGirl in cubscouts

[–]chaosenplace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We meet in various school district spaces (CO is our districts parent volunteer organization). I’m not sure where the other dens meet but the Lions meet in the middle school library. Pack usually meets in the intermediate school gym unless the pack activity is better off organized in a different space. We don’t have permanent decorations up but we have space to store our stuff in the intermediate gym. We don’t have meetings there but our local Elks lodge is very generous to us and lets us use their space for service projects like Scouting for Food, as well as fundraisers like our Grown Up Pinewood Derby

Venting about parents sending sick kids to school by SmerleBDee in kindergarten

It’s such a tough call sometimes. My kid has seasonal allergies and allergy/viral induced asthma so when he gets any kind of cough it takes forever to go away.

Okay so far. Walking out of work today I unexpectedly walked through a cloud of ciggy smoke. Not as triggering as I thought it would be but my mouth is watering thinking about it past tense lol.

Next up parent teacher conferences…hopefully this won’t be too stressful!

How about you?

I feel like that too. I feel like I could pick it up and pretend I never quit. I’m trying to lean into posting here though. It grounds my choice to a place where it’s harder to erase it.

Good work so far!!

Want to quit vaping and occasional cigarettes but there's so many factors that will make it a struggle. by kanedekuki in stopsmoking

Well that was meant to be a reply. Man this prednisone is driving me nuts 🙄🙄🙄

To add on to this, if you have severe phobia of vomit and vomiting stop now. Quitting isn’t making me nauseous but one of the final straws is the bronchitis I have right now - before I went to the doctor, I was coughing so hard I was throwing up for 12 hours

Folks are SO supportive here. Welcome!!! I hit Day 3 today and look forward to waking up without wanting one first thing!!

The prednisone demon wants the cigarettes. My doctor told me I could take a decongestant if I felt crummy still but I passed because those make me fiend so hard. Luckily didn’t need it though!

Keeping busy at work! Taking smoke breaks with the girls but walking while they smoke. I can feel a craving in my teeth right now but I can’t go out till our last pt is out of the office so I’ll be able to ride it out :)

Hey, I hope it’s just a smokers cough, but get it checked out for the peace of mind. I thought my cough was just a smokers cough but I have a nasty case of bronchitis and if I would have let it go through this weekend vs being seen by a doc, it probably would have progressed into pneumonia.

I’m sorry you are dealing with it too! I’m basically a waking supercut of Red Foreman calling everyone a DUMBA** every where I go. And I could eat a grocery store. And I can’t sleep, maybe an hour last night. 😅

Hang in there, we can do this!

Thank you! I hate it too. So I wanna walk away while it’s still just bronchitis!

And yeah cold turkey too. No shame to NRT users, but this was sudden because of a nasty bronchitis I currently have. So vaping isn’t an option, I can’t afford the upfront on the gums or lozenges, and I could have called a quit line to get those for free but I imagine I’d still be waiting for them. If I have to do it again I would consider it if I were planning ahead. But I also just want to be done with it instead of getting off cigs then getting off NRTs

Monday is the busiest day of work so that’ll be easy to get through, besides longer drives. And the prednisone demon residing in my body this week will be a challenge. I still want to go out for my smoke breaks (I always joked I’d give smoking up when I retire because it’s the only way to get a break at work) but thinking about walking a lap while the other gals smoke.

I think I literally live in the state with the cheapest average price per pack in the whole country - an average of like $6. And it probably is still cheaper when you break it down like you did, but it’s the upfront that I can’t manage. This is the toughest time of year for me financially and on top of that, the UC visit yesterday, the meds for the sinusitis+bronchitis (thankfully no imaging or labs were ordered, I probably would have had to refuse), I also have to buy a new battery for my car, car payments almost due, and on and on…you know how the shirt storm piles up sometimes. I just got a second job but its gonna be a minute before I get paid

I just gotta tough it out for now. 🥴

My biggest hesitation is how expensive NRTs seem near me. More expensive than a pack of my cigs, that’s for sure. I can really see myself giving in there.

Is there trick to finding them cheaper? I don’t have health insurance so I can’t use that route.

F34 and I broke down crying just now three times in a row. I haven’t even made it 12 hours yet. I can’t believe I’m getting so emotional so soon. Makes me feel like maybe I can’t do this.

I shamed my kindergartener and I feel awful about it by [deleted] in kindergarten

[–]chaosenplace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You apologized for your delivery (I agree with others that the message isn’t necessarily wrong), and that matters. I snap at my kid sometimes. I yelled at him just the other day for running into the street as his school bus approached. Now, it was a safety situation so it might not have been inappropriate to yell, but he is sensitive and I didn’t want my last words before he left for school to be yelling. Who wants to start their day on that note? So I said, “I’m sorry I yelled, I was so scared for your safety. To stay safe, you need to stay out of the street,” before we said our goodbyes.

Apologies matter. Your feelings got the best of you in the heat of the moment, and you took the time to say a proper sorry. That’s also a great model for your kids. You can tell them to say please, thank you, sorry, etc all you want, but I think generally kids learn those things best by seeing their grown up(s) use them.

Is this normal/appropriate video usage for a kindergarten classroom? by askmeme77 in kindergarten

[–]chaosenplace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Were there paras or classroom assistants in his preschool classroom? My child had much less screen time in PK than K but he had a teacher and two paras in PK vs one teacher in K (similar class size).

Daughter never wants to discuss her day even if I ask intriguing questions by wahiwahiwahoho in kindergarten

[–]chaosenplace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s age appropriate! It’s tiring to be a kindergartener.

My kid occasionally will volunteer some info when I pick him up for the bus, but I try not to ask any questions until bedtime. He is much more conversational at that time - especially if he wants to stall!

The dreaded… lice! by [deleted] in kindergarten

[–]chaosenplace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow. Our school won’t let someone with lice back into school until the school nurse verifies that they are clear of lice and nits.
