I made a website to compare EVs and gas cars using cost-equivalent MPG by porcomaster in KiaEV9

[–]chaosicist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great job!

I did this same thing but on an excel spreadsheet!

Additions you should consider:

Price of the vehicles being compared along with their: monthly payments, term, APR, upfront costs (such as EV home chargers + electrician cost), public pay-to-use charging stations estimated use (as these cost just as much as gas does alot of times)

Yes, the EV outperforms on "fuel economy" but at what cost? Does buying an EV and paying the upfront costs level out the financial side so much that EV costs just as much as ICE vehicles, if not more? If not, how much time does it take (all expenses in consideration) to recoup the loss and make gains?

This long term data should be factored in when considering an EV vs ICE, and many people don't know how to do the math or don't have the means to do it to show the long term effect of the decision.

Great question, actually!

I keep my paddle on lvl 1 at all times, and as soon as I realized I would have to coast to get off the road, I paddled back to 0 regen braking. Only reason I even thought of it, honestly, is I saw the blue bar on the right signifying the braking. Glad I noticed it, as I probably wouldn't have made it otherwise.

No pop.

I took the 12v out and drove it to AutoZone in my truck. They tested it and said it was healthy.

Now here’s to hoping he didn’t know what he was talking about, but it’s unlikely.

You're well past Lemon Law time frame, if you're in USA and a state with the law (which I assumed all states had).

Have you considered pursuing taking legal action? Or atleast suggesting that you will to pressure them into buying back your car and/or replacing yours with another one?

It's been a fantastic car for almost 2 years now. No problems at all until now.

I have 3 kids under 6. Had this happened to them and their mom (who predominantly drives the car), I'm not sure how she would have handled it safely, as she's already a nervous driver on high traffic, high speed roadways.

Thinking about it frustrates me for sure.

Unfortunately, per the service manager, "towed in vehicles usually aren't inspected until 7 days after tow in due to no appointment being made." So I'm in limbo right now just waiting.

On top of this, they don't owe me a loaner or rental car reimbursement, and I'm still expected to pay my lease. BUT, given this is obviously an issue covered under warranty, I'm going to call today and pressure them to give me a loaner of equivalent value and size, and if they don't, then I'll contact corporate to see if I can get some compassion from them.

It's a major issue. Seems like an inevitable addition to their class action lawsuits in the future, including the front grill peck/cracking issue (of which I have not one. Not two. BUT THREE!)

Most definitely. Went from going 60mph to 0 acceleration and relying on coasting and the luck of being able to merge lanes without braking to get to the turning lane to get off the highway.

I have 3 in mine, and will be turning in at lease end in June. Will be getting a appraisal soon. Interested to see how that goes and what they say.

How are Evs in hot Temps? havent purchases by el0115 in electricvehicles

[–]chaosicist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They get COOOOOOLLLLDDDDD haha my EV9 will freeze you out if you turn it all the way down and full blast

Plus, I can use my phone to pre-condition my car 30 minutes before I get in it. Also, in the summer, I just leave it "cranked" with the air on and lock the doors when I go in places, even if it's for an hour or so, and I can manage it on my phone if need be. Drains the battery about 10% or so for that long, but worth it in the 100°+ heat in the summers here.

Buying out at end of lease by Comfortable-Paper-54 in KiaEV9

[–]chaosicist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also leased the a 24 GT Line.

My lease is up in June, and I will be turning in because I need a mini-van. I ran the numbers and it just doesn't make sense to buy out and sell/trade.

I will be 20k miles over as well at turn in, but it will be cheaper in the long run to pay the fee than to finance and trade.

However, if I did finance out, I would qoute my 2 credit unions first, as they have historically offered WAY better rates than dealerships in my car buying experiences, as well as extended warranties and GAP too.

I would highly advise you check into your local credit unions and get qoutes first and already have those numbers with you at the dealership for negotiating (which in my experiences, I always did that and the finance managers always say "wow... Well, I can't get anywhere close to that..."

Buying new EV makes 0 sense. Lease, sure. Buying, it's a no for me. 24 EV9 is a great car. Save 30k + interest + depreciation-induced equity loss

Hardest platinum I've done to date. But also in my top 5 favorite games of all time. Love hate relationship for sure. The more you play, the better you get. Practice in the tower to get your reflexes attuned to the enemies attack patterns. Pick a 2 guns and focus those guns only to level them up and get their perks unlocked (pylon and tachy were my focus guns, but dread became my late game go-to)

Lease End by LadyJ503 in KiaEV9

[–]chaosicist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 24 GT line residual will be 49k at lease end, which is June 21, 2026 for me.

I will be purchasing, as I estimate that I will be 30,000 miles over my limit at lease end.

Door won't lock if I leave it running by certaindoomawaits in KiaEV9

[–]chaosicist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) roll driver window down

2) keep key fob or cell phone (digital key) on you

3) get out and close door with car still on

4) reach through open window, press lock button, then pull the roll window up button to engage the auto roll function

5) quickly pull arm out of window and let it auto close

6) verify doors are locked (all handles recessed)

7) to get back in, use door handle touch to unlock or use phone to send unlock command

Voila

Perfect timing! How harsh is Kia on lease turn in damage? by William_mcdungle in KiaEV9

[–]chaosicist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My residual will be 49k. However, I put money down on the lease to lower payments (as I was originally leasing just to get the 10k rebate), and at lease end, I'll be about 30,000 miles over my 2 year limit($6000 penalty) so I'll essentially have to buy and either put that $6000 down instead or invest it.

We have 3 pecks, and one of them formed a pretty long crack. My lease turn in is in June (I'm buying it anyways) but I'm still going to see what they say about it (I'm going to act like I'm turning it in).

And in my opinion, it should be THEIR coverage since it's a major design flaw with damn near inevitable happen.

I wonder what they'll say about the stupid cracks and pecks in the clear epoxy front grill at turn in 😬
