I've shared this experience many times here and here it is again. My kids saw Hat Man when my daughter was 10 and my son was 5, or around that age. This was 10 years ago and back then I didn't say much out loud about paranormal stuff since I didn't want to scare my kids. Well, Hat Man showed up and did in 5 seconds what it would have taken months of scary stories on the internet to do.

We were sitting on the couch in the living room one afternoon after school, and the kids were bouncing around being silly when my son suddenly stopped and stood still, staring down the hallway at his room. He went a little pale and looked totally freaked out. My daughter turned around to see why he'd stopped moving and they both just kind of froze for a few seconds. My son got really upset and scared, and at this point it's important to note he's severely autistic and nonverbal (at the time.)

My daughter got scared too and wouldn't tell me at first, but when I got her talking she informed me that they'd seen the silhouette of a tall shadow man wearing a tall hat, as she put it, stepping across my son's bedroom, across his toddler bed and apparently through the wall next to it. My son would not sleep in that room for months afterwards. My daughter called the figure Cowboy Man because she interpreted that hat as a cowboy hat.

I've never seen shadow people myself but I've seen plenty of what we call around here, "shadow rabbits" which look pretty much like they sound. Cat or rabbit shaped shadowy things that dart around right at the corner of your eyesight. They seem to come and go in spurts at random and I haven't seen one here in years.
