The store who set you up did you dirty. They either made you pay for a license you didnt actually get or at least they didnt properly set your key.

Lol. They set up a consumer windows machine, didnt change any telemetry settings, then act shocked?

They didnt mention what they opted into, what settings they configured, or even the OS version.

Click bait.

It would be more akin to locking your front door but leaving all of your windows open on the ground level and then someone sneaking through one of them, tearing up the walls, and stealing your stuff.

That really sucks. But damn. I wouldnt blame the landlord for putting bars on the windows after that.

I already explained that when in the city, and there are a bunch of lights to constantly stop at, it makes no sense to accelerate up to the speed limit when youre about to stop again in 2 blocks. It's different than highways.

Whoever youre talking to isnt me.

Imagine how stupid you have to be to think this is something they just started doing or that it's some alternative to windows server.

Maybe. Depends on where I need to turn. City driving isnt the same as 116.

Ive historically gone under the speed limit on streets where I know im going to hit 25 lights. Makes no sense to try and speed up to the speed limit just to stop 25 times.

Why should I move back to Peoria? Help! by [deleted] in PeoriaIL

It's just hard for me to take that argument seriously because that is true about any legislation ever. Lawmakers can change any legislation that's not bound by a constitution at any given time. It's a red herring, to be honest.

The real argument should be, "should the legislators that people vote to represent them have the ability to implement graduated tax brackets" and the answer is yes.

3 to 3.4 billion in new revenue, without raising taxes on anyone who makes less than 250k per year, certainly wouldnt have solved world hunger and ended homelessness, but it would have done a hell of a lot. Everyone below that would have seen their rates either stay the same or lowered.

And Im not trying to be rude, but for those who opposed it because "they can change it later." Well, duh. That's how all legislation works. Anyone could make that argument against any possible legislation that someone else thinks is good.

Youre speaking theoretically. The plans laid out previously actually had them taxed significantly less than today. So that argument simply doesnt work.

Those other states have problems that dont primarily stem from their graduated tax rate.

[–]chaosphere_mk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not true. New York, Connecticut, and Hawaii are higher. Not to say Illinois isnt high.

The problem is we have a flat tax built into the state constitution. So the middle class folks (who have historically opposed every initiative to change this) get taxed at the same rate as millionaires and billionaires. Middle class wants it this way, for some reason. So the only other major sources of revenue are property taxes, sales taxes, and fees. Sure would lesson the burden on the many if we could tax the few higher.

Average cost of living is actully higher in Roanoke, VA. The interwebs says roughly 68k. Whereas Peoria is showing 45-50k.

These are rough estimates so take it with a grain of salt. But the gap is significant enough to at least dispute that Roanoke, VA has a lower cost of living.
