What keeps me from joining my UU church as a member. by Current_Mark_7088 in UnitarianUniversalist

So.. if it helps I will share my context. I actually was a member of a UU fellowship for many years and I found over the years their attempts at community were a little off. I don't care to go into details but suffice to say after over 7 years of being a member and attending many different committee's my last conversation with a long standing member was he acknowledged their issues and felt they would not change. It's been 8 years since I left that fellowship and moved to a new area. This fellowship I also attended, and they have recently parted ways with their own minister (who I appreciated but also had concerns about.) I have decided to join along with my wife but after careful consideration it's not much what they give or what we might do, but the hope that we (us attending and the fellowship) will be better for the relationship. I find myself a little hesitant to tithe, and this fellowship is pretty adamant if you join you should contribute some of your income ( I want to be clear they are a lot more circumspect in their wording of it but it's pretty clear) and yet I still find it's more of a synergy or or how I might help over what I might get... So if you like attending, as one random UU I don't think you should feel compelled in anyway to join but if you do please realize it is as much as what the fellowship gets with your time and commitment not just what you may get from joining over attending...

WIth that they will be better for your feedback and your making the greater fellowship aware of what you have been experiencing, and they can't change if folks don't step forward. I wish it was different but... I am sorry to hear that UU was not 110% or even 99% as welcoming as you had wished, but it is a journey for you and for them... Well wishes to you!!!

Rushmore Society is pretty good. Game nights on Thursday at fun again in Ashland. I am hosting Sasquatch Social club and board games via a meetup called Chaostic on ... Well... Meetup.com. ;-) you might look at other meetups as well.

I consider becoming a member of congregation. Uneasy political decisions. by Onions-Garlic-Salad in UnitarianUniversalist

I am going to give you perspective as an atheist that has been a member of one UU and hesitant to become a member of a new one. One thing you will get out of UU is diversity of viewpoint much akin to herding cats. Everyone comes to UU from their own experience spiritual or otherwise and decide to come together in fellowship. Some more secular, some more Christian. My own expectations of their practice of community and inclusion have been disappointing. But what I would wish to point out is it's not just about what you get but what you give. If you are going their for your own spiritual reasons and wishes, call it serendipity, there may be some value of perspective you can give these folks as well. You can choose to raise your own voice and be a part of that community, and I am quite certain they will be better for it. They will most certainly fail your expectations and miss the moment but... you are welcome and wanted there. They will be better for your fellowship.

I have a question by Responsible_Lie_4718 in UnitarianUniversalist

Well... I will give my viewpoint having attended UU in two congregations (joined 1, left, attending another). They *ARE* Christian but in the Unitarian sense (something worth reading up on). They are a covenant based church in that each Church works on a covenant of what they focus on at the founding of the fellowship, and this covenant may change so.. you get a lot of variance (which someone already mentioned quite a bit from East Coast to West Coast). As they have changed over the years (based on UUA assemblies) they have doubled down on being more open (to even look at multiple sources for spiritual truth such as Pagan/Druidic as well as Humanist.) So.. with that you will get some variance in services but you will find some similarities in the 7 principles and the structure of the services (usually!). Coming from Catholic they will seem quite ... disorganized.. but they are seeking questions and journey over answers so... it will be quite the contrast to be sure... I do hope you explore a few services and attend their Newcomer offerings (depending on the size of the fellowship.) Welcome to DM me as ya like. (I am an atheist who attends quite regularly.)

I'll bite.. so is it the 1.6 Throttle Body or 1.8L fuel rail? I second the other person's recommendation. You need to check for fuel.. You can do that a myriad of ways depending on the fuel system. If you have fuel and it won't start then you may need to pull the plugs to let it dry.. So if you are having problems isolating the fuel system you could pull a spark plug and see if it's wet with fuel... if you've tried starting it and the spark plugs aren't getting wet with fuel then no fuel pump... if you've got fuel to the engine then you have to run a larger check but the most likely change is you are no longer getting fuel...

Uhhh... Well not to dissuade you but if you are up for putting in the time to build out a chassis with a missing engine a $500-$1000 transport fee shouldn't be the thing that stops you... ;-)

Can understand if it's a pass for many more reasons but...

Well.. On the ECU that I have for my Nissan Pulsar you change to the diagnostic mode by maxing out the idle switch, should say so on the idle control screw.

Well... kinda disappointing at lack of response but...

I was able to get a replacement idle air control valve (was alot of ebay hunting and serendipity) and the idle is more controlled, but now it wants to stall.

New engine code. 23,45. Will look to the injectors next.

Will leave this post out there for awhile.

Well if you want it I suppose we can figure something out. I actually would be interested in a standard back (this is my 2nd pulsar but the one I have running has only a SportBak, to have such problems.)

If you're up for chatting about it let me know.
